About the role 

As a Principal Engineer (Palo Alto XSIAM), you will serve as a technical cornerstone within Insight’s Managed Security Service, engineering and operationalizing threat detection, automated response workflows, and client onboarding across Palo Alto XSIAM and the Cortex security ecosystem. We will count on you to provide technical leadership, optimize multi-vendor security telemetry, and translate complex security architectures into clear, actionable guidance for clients and internal stakeholders. Along the way, you will get to: 

• Deploy, configure, and optimize Palo Alto XSIAM and integrated Cortex and Palo Alto security products, including data ingestion, parsing, RBAC, dashboards, XQL analytics, correlation rules, and platform performance. 

• Develop and tune XQL-based detections, BIOC/IOC rules, investigation views, reports, and cross-product telemetry integrations aligned to MITRE ATT&CK and client-specific threat landscapes. 

• Design, develop, test, and continuously improve automated security workflows and incident response playbooks using Cortex XSOAR, including custom integrations, sub-playbooks, orchestration packs, and operational runbooks. 

• Lead technical onboarding and advisory engagements for MSSP clients, including requirements gathering, architecture workshops, data-source integration, go-live support, risk escalation, and scalable onboarding documentation.

What we’re looking for 

• 8+ years of experience in security operations, security engineering, or managed security services, with direct experience onboarding clients or business units onto security monitoring platforms. 

• Hands-on production experience with Palo Alto XSIAM and at least three Cortex or Palo Alto Networks security products, plus strong proficiency in XQL, detection engineering, alert tuning, dashboards, and analytics. 

• Proven experience building automated response playbooks with Cortex XSOAR and a solid understanding of MITRE ATT&CK, threat actor techniques, incident response methodologies, and multi-vendor security telemetry integration. 

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated client-facing leadership, supported by a bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent professional experience; relevant Palo Alto Networks certifications are preferred.
