Sr. Staff Software Development Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr. Staff Software Development Engineer based in India.

This is a senior engineering leadership role focused on architecting and scaling critical security operations and exposure management infrastructure. You’ll design highly available, secure, cloud-native systems that support demanding security workloads at scale. The role combines deep hands-on software engineering with technical leadership, influencing architecture and end-to-end execution. You’ll work extensively with distributed systems, microservices, APIs, messaging, search technologies, and cloud storage. You’ll also mentor engineers, promote strong engineering practices, and collaborate closely with teams building high-performance user-facing experiences. • Architect, design, develop, and scale high-quality, secure, and highly available software systems.
• Build and evolve cloud-native microservices and REST/gRPC APIs for security operations and exposure management.
• Design and implement distributed systems using messaging platforms, search stores, and cloud storage technologies.
• Drive end-to-end technical execution, from architecture and development through deployment, monitoring, and optimization.
• Collaborate with front-end engineering teams to deliver performant APIs and services that enable responsive, user-focused experiences.
• Establish and maintain engineering practices that support scalability, reliability, security, and operational excellence.
• Monitor system health, investigate production issues, troubleshoot complex technical problems, and optimize service performance.
• Apply a DevOps mindset across development, deployment, observability, and continuous improvement.
• Mentor engineers, share technical knowledge, provide guidance, and contribute to the development of engineering talent.
• Collaborate effectively across engineering and other functions to solve complex problems and deliver meaningful outcomes.
• Contribute to technical strategy and architectural decisions across a broad and evolving engineering landscape.

Requirements

• 8+ years of hands-on software application development experience, particularly with distributed systems and cloud storage solutions.
• Strong proficiency in Java and Spring technologies, including Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and Spring Security.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Deep understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.
• Strong experience with observability and monitoring tools such as DataDog, Grafana, or Prometheus.
• Comprehensive understanding of the software development lifecycle, including architecture, design, implementation, version control with Git, deployment, monitoring, and system optimization.
• Foundational understanding of AI/ML technologies and experience applying, securing, or supporting AI-driven solutions within a relevant technical domain.
• Experience designing scalable, secure, and reliable microservices and APIs.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and develop solutions to complex technical challenges.
• Demonstrated technical leadership and mentoring experience, with the ability to influence architecture and engineering practices.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, with a focus on knowledge sharing, constructive feedback, and team outcomes.
• Experience designing systems for strong SLAs, high availability, disaster recovery, and cost efficiency is highly desirable.
• Experience integrating AI/ML inference, AI security controls, or automated threat intelligence into high-throughput microservices is a plus.
• Familiarity with test-driven development, Agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and relational or NoSQL databases is preferred.
