Senior Platform Engineer (OpenShift, Kubernetes & GitOps)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Platform Engineer (OpenShift, Kubernetes & GitOps) based in India.

This role offers the opportunity to design, build and operate enterprise-grade cloud-native platforms at scale. You will work hands-on with Kubernetes and OpenShift to create secure, resilient and highly available infrastructure capabilities. The position combines platform engineering, software development, automation and API integration to streamline how applications are delivered and operated. You will help advance CI/CD and GitOps practices while using Infrastructure as Code to improve consistency and operational efficiency. Working closely with development and infrastructure teams, you will contribute to architecture, reliability, security and observability initiatives. The role is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys solving complex platform challenges and building automation that enables teams to move faster.

• Design, build, administer and upgrade Kubernetes and OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) clusters, including lifecycle management and automation.
• Develop platform capabilities using scripting, automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) methodologies.
• Build integrations between platform services and enterprise systems through APIs and automation frameworks.
• Design, implement and maintain Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) and GitOps solutions using tools such as GitHub, Argo CD and Tekton.
• Develop and maintain platform components using Go, Python or equivalent programming languages.
• Collaborate with engineering and infrastructure teams to deliver scalable, resilient cloud-native platform solutions.
• Implement observability, monitoring and troubleshooting practices across platform environments.
• Contribute to platform architecture, security, reliability, governance and operational excellence initiatives.
• Support microservices-based workloads and distributed systems running on container platforms.
• Identify opportunities to improve platform automation, reliability, scalability and developer experience.

Requirements

• 6–10 years of experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) or Cloud Infrastructure.
• Strong hands-on experience administering Kubernetes and OpenShift Container Platform (OCP), including cluster deployment, upgrades, lifecycle management and automation.
• Strong software development skills with a solid understanding of object-oriented programming concepts.
• Hands-on development experience with Go, Python or a similar programming language.
• Experience with CI/CD and GitOps technologies such as GitHub, Argo CD and Tekton.
• Experience designing and integrating APIs using an API-first engineering approach.
• Proven ability to independently design and implement platform solutions as an individual contributor.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation frameworks.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, microservices architectures and cloud-native design principles.
• Experience with Kubernetes Operators and Custom Controllers is preferred.
• Familiarity with service mesh technologies such as Istio is preferred.
• Experience with observability platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Dynatrace or similar tools is preferred.
• Knowledge of storage technologies such as Ceph and OpenShift Data Foundation (ODF) is preferred.
• Experience with secrets management solutions such as HashiCorp Vault is preferred.
• Exposure to hybrid cloud and private cloud environments is preferred.
• Understanding of platform security, governance and compliance best practices is preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification.
• Strong problem-solving, collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across engineering and infrastructure teams.
