This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Data Engineer based in India.
As a Data Engineer, you will play a key role in building and maintaining the data infrastructure that powers business intelligence and reporting. You will design robust ETL/ELT pipelines and develop high-performance SQL solutions across complex datasets. Working closely with architects, analysts, data scientists, and actuaries, you will translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions. The role combines hands-on engineering with data quality, warehouse optimization, and cloud cost efficiency. You will work extensively with Google Cloud technologies while contributing to evolving data models and warehouse architecture. This is a full-time, fully remote opportunity with dedicated collaboration hours aligned to US-based teams.
Build, optimize, and monitor reliable ETL/ELT pipelines using BigQuery, Dataflow, and Cloud Composer.
Develop high-performance SQL scripts for complex transformations while maintaining data accuracy across multiple datasets.
Contribute to the design and refinement of Star and Snowflake data models to support changing business requirements.
Identify and resolve pipeline and query performance bottlenecks, balancing execution speed with cloud cost efficiency.
Translate business concepts and requirements into technical data specifications in collaboration with analysts, data scientists, actuaries, and other stakeholders.
Participate in peer code reviews and maintain clear technical documentation to support the long-term health of the data warehouse.
Support both new development initiatives and troubleshooting of existing or legacy data pipelines.
Apply strong data-quality practices to ensure reliable, consistent, and trustworthy business data.
3+ years of professional experience in data engineering, particularly with cloud-based data warehouses.
Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud technologies, including BigQuery, Cloud Storage, and IAM best practices.
Expert-level SQL skills, including window functions, recursive CTEs, query-plan analysis, DDL, and complex data transformations.
Solid understanding of data warehouse design, partitioning, clustering, and data warehouse lifecycle management.
Strong attention to detail and a demonstrated commitment to data integrity and clean, maintainable code.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Proven experience collaborating with US-based business teams.
Strong teamwork and stakeholder collaboration skills, with the ability to contribute effectively to shared objectives.
Adaptability and problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance new feature development and legacy-system troubleshooting.
Ability to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining reliable communication and delivery.
A quiet, dedicated workspace and reliable internet connection with a minimum speed of 50 Mbps.
Salary: ₹1,575,000–₹2,205,000 INR annually, depending on experience, skills, knowledge, market alignment, and geographic location.
Work arrangement: Full-time and fully remote from India.
Working hours: 8 hours per day, excluding breaks.
Schedule flexibility: 4 core US-overlap hours from 7:30 PM–11:30 PM IST, plus 4 flexible hours.
