Senior Software Engineer, Authorization

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Authorization based in India.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll design and deliver secure, scalable services that underpin modern identity and authorization capabilities.
You’ll work primarily with Go, Node.js, and/or Python to build production-grade systems with a strong focus on performance, reliability, and maintainability.
The role combines hands-on engineering with technical leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and continuous improvement of development practices.
You’ll contribute to core authorization and IAM capabilities using technologies such as OAuth 2.0, OIDC, JWT, and infrastructure-as-code.
Working across multiple time zones, you’ll help drive clear technical decisions through strong documentation and asynchronous collaboration.
You’ll also champion automated testing, CI/CD quality gates, observability, and reliable deployment practices.

• Design, develop, test, and deploy scalable and secure backend services using Go, Node.js, and/or Python.

• Produce well-documented, maintainable, and high-performance code, with particular attention to minimizing latency for users across global environments.

• Develop automated unit, integration, and regression tests for both new functionality and existing services.

• Strengthen engineering quality through automated CI/CD gates that detect issues early and reduce regression risk.

• Partner with Product Management and UX teams across time zones to refine requirements, assess technical feasibility, and translate business needs into effective technical solutions.

• Contribute to engineering roadmap discussions and help ensure technical priorities remain aligned with customer and business value.

• Design alerts, operational processes, and runbooks that support reliable and zero-downtime deployments.

• Improve engineering workflows by identifying opportunities for automation and more effective development practices.

• Promote responsible use of AI-assisted development tools, including code generation, automated test generation, and dependency analysis.

• Contribute to architectural and technical decisions across authorization, identity, and access-management systems.

• Facilitate consensus and provide technical direction across geographically distributed engineering and cross-functional teams.

• Participate in on-call rotations and respond to production alerts during assigned shifts.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a demonstrated history of delivering complex, scalable, production-quality software.

• Strong proficiency in Go, Node.js, and/or Python, with the flexibility and willingness to work across technologies as required.

• Willingness to learn and use Vue.js where frontend integration is needed.

• Deep understanding of identity and access management technologies, including OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC), JWT, and broader IAM concepts.

• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code, particularly Terraform, and strong understanding of modern cloud infrastructure concepts.

• Experience designing and implementing automated testing strategies for new and legacy services.

• Strong understanding of CI/CD practices and the use of automated quality gates within software delivery pipelines.

• Experience with observability, alerting, runbooks, and practices that support highly available and reliable distributed systems.

• Strong technical leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to drive decisions and establish clear direction in cross-functional environments.

• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across multiple time zones using asynchronous communication and detailed written documentation.

• Familiarity with GitOps principles and disciplined Definition of Done practices.

• Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical topics clearly to engineering and non-engineering stakeholders.

• Proactive, collaborative, and ownership-oriented approach to solving technical and organizational challenges.

• Fluent written and spoken English, as English is the primary language used for internal collaboration and the recruitment process.

• Willingness and ability to participate in an on-call rotation.

• Legal authorization to work in India without requiring employer sponsorship.
