ServiceNow Lead Engineer - Sam Pro

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a ServiceNow Lead Engineer - SAM Pro based in India.

This role offers the opportunity to lead the development and enhancement of sophisticated ServiceNow solutions within enterprise technology environments. You will focus on SAM Pro, Discovery, Service Mapping, CMDB, and integrated applications that support critical business workflows. The position combines hands-on engineering with solution design, technical problem-solving, and collaboration with stakeholders and technical subject matter experts. You will help configure and optimize complex ServiceNow capabilities while ensuring accurate service visibility, reliable integrations, and high-quality configuration data. Your work will directly contribute to improving operational workflows, application performance, and the accuracy of enterprise service management processes. • Develop and enhance customer applications within ServiceNow, with a primary focus on Work Order Management, scheduling, dispatch, and SAM Pro capabilities.
• Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to identify functional requirements and translate them into effective solutions within customized ServiceNow environments.
• Implement and maintain ServiceNow event rules to support accurate Configuration Management Database (CMDB) binding and reliable service relationships.
• Work closely with technical SMEs to gather environment information and support the development and maintenance of service maps and event-management capabilities.
• Design and implement interfaces tailored to different user audiences, including custom application models and Service Portals.
• Develop integrated business logic and functional components that interact with ServiceNow internal services and APIs through REST-based integrations.
• Apply enterprise service-oriented and distributed application architecture principles across web services, data access, persistence, and client/server components.
• Configure and manage Credential-less and Credential-based Discovery capabilities.
• Install, configure, integrate, maintain, and optimize ServiceNow SAM Pro capabilities across Discovery, Service Mapping, Certification Management, Service Graph Connectors, and Multi-Source CMDB.
• Configure mechanisms to prevent duplicate Configuration Items (CIs), including the effective use of CI identifiers and identification rules.
• Extend Horizontal Discovery through custom Infrastructure Patterns and Application Patterns to support complex enterprise environments.
• Configure, manage, and maintain MID Servers supporting Discovery and Service Mapping activities.
• Use command-line tools and consoles to troubleshoot, configure, and manage Service Mapping environments.
• Develop, manage, and migrate Service Mapping patterns between different environments while maintaining configuration consistency and reliability.
• Configure Identification Rules and other Service Mapping capabilities to ensure accurate discovery and service relationships.
• Design and configure Discovery for multi-tier services, including advanced Service Mapping patterns and complex application dependencies.
• Contribute to technical reviews, troubleshooting, and continuous improvements across the ServiceNow platform.

Requirements

• Strong professional experience working as a ServiceNow Lead Engineer, with hands-on expertise in SAM Pro and related ServiceNow capabilities.
• Strong understanding of SAM Pro functionality and the ability to communicate, design, configure, and implement solutions using the platform.
• Proven experience developing interfaces for different user audiences through custom ServiceNow applications and Service Portals.
• Solid experience developing integrated logic and functional components that interact with ServiceNow internal services and APIs, particularly through REST integrations.
• Strong understanding of service-oriented and distributed enterprise application architectures, including web services, data access, persistence, and client/server models.
• Hands-on experience with both Credential-less and Credential-based Discovery.
• Proven experience installing, configuring, integrating, managing, and maintaining ServiceNow SAM Pro and related capabilities.
• Strong knowledge of ServiceNow Discovery, Service Mapping, Certification Management, Service Graph Connectors, and Multi-Source CMDB.
• Experience configuring CI identifiers and Identification Rules to prevent duplicate Configuration Items and maintain CMDB integrity.
• Hands-on experience extending Horizontal Discovery with custom Infrastructure Patterns and Application Patterns.
• Strong knowledge of configuring, managing, and maintaining MID Servers.
• Experience working with command-line consoles for Service Mapping configuration and troubleshooting.
• Proven ability to create, manage, and migrate Service Mapping patterns between environments.
• Strong experience configuring Identification Rules and advanced Service Mapping capabilities.
• Experience discovering and mapping multi-tier services, including advanced pattern configuration and complex service dependencies.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to investigate complex platform and integration issues.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders, technical SMEs, and distributed teams.
• Strong ability to understand complex technical environments and translate requirements into scalable ServiceNow solutions.
• Detail-oriented and proactive approach to platform quality, configuration accuracy, and continuous improvement.
