DevOps Assistant Manager

RSM has an opportunity for an experienced Azure Cloud and DevOps professional at the Assistant Manager (Supervisor) level.

• This role supports reliable, secure, and scalable Microsoft Azure platforms and Azure DevOps services.
• The position provides Level 3 support for complex production and platform issues.
• The candidate will configure and maintain YAML and Classic build and release pipelines.
• The role will establish practical Git branching and repository policies for controlled software delivery.
• The candidate will create and maintain Terraform code to deploy and manage Azure resources.
• The position supports microservices hosted on Azure Kubernetes Service using Kubernetes and Helm charts.
• The role applies RBAC, operational controls, and ITIL practices across day-to-day services.
• The candidate will guide team members, coordinate with stakeholders, and drive measurable continuous improvement.

Provide Level 3 support for Azure Cloud, Azure DevOps, AKS, and related platform services. Troubleshoot complex incidents involving availability, deployment, performance, networking, access, and configuration. Lead technical investigations, document root causes, implement corrective actions, and communicate status clearly to stakeholders.

Operate and improve Azure services across compute, storage, networking, identity, monitoring, and security. Use Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and related tools to identify risks, maintain service health, and improve reliability, capacity, and operational readiness. Follow ITIL-defined Incident Management, Problem Management, Change Enablement, and continual improvement processes.

Configure and support Azure DevOps repositories, Boards, YAML and Classic build and release pipelines. Implement branching policies, pull-request controls, approvals, environment promotion, and release practices. Help teams use Azure DevOps consistently to manage work, code, and deployments.

Develop, review, and maintain Terraform code and reusable modules to provision Azure resources. Integrate Infrastructure as Code into deployment pipelines and follow approved practices for state management, peer review, testing, security, and environment consistency.

Support microservices running on Azure Kubernetes Service. Configure and troubleshoot Kubernetes resources and Helm charts, and work with application teams to improve deployment reliability, scalability, observability, and recovery. Apply Azure RBAC and least-privilege access. Participate in planned after-hours maintenance and rotational on-call support when required.

EDUCATION / CERTIFICATIONS

• Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent professional experience.
• Preferred certifications: Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, HashiCorp Terraform Associate, CKA/CKAD, or ITIL Foundation.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

• Level 3 troubleshooting of complex Azure platform, deployment, performance, networking, identity, and access issues.

• Azure Cloud operations across compute, storage, networking, monitoring, security, backup, and recovery services.

• Azure DevOps administration, Boards, Repos, YAML and Classic build/release pipelines, artifacts, approvals, and environments.

• Git branching strategies, branch policies, pull requests, peer review, and controlled code promotion.

• Terraform authoring, reusable modules, state management, validation, code review, and automated Azure resource deployment.

• Hands-on AKS, Kubernetes, Helm charts, containers, microservices support, troubleshooting, scalability, and observability.

• Azure RBAC, least-privilege access, managed identities, service connections, and access review practices.

• PowerShell, Bash, or Python scripting and familiarity with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights.

EXPERIENCE

• 8+ years of progressive experience in cloud engineering, infrastructure engineering, DevOps, platform engineering, or site reliability engineering.

• Demonstrated experience operating and supporting production services in Microsoft Azure.

• Hands-on experience configuring Azure DevOps YAML and Classic build and release pipelines.

• Practical experience implementing Git branching and repository governance policies.

• Hands-on experience writing Terraform code and deploying Azure resources through automated pipelines.

• Hands-on experience supporting microservices on AKS using Kubernetes and Helm charts.

• Experience applying RBAC and access-control standards in cloud and DevOps environments.

• Working experience with ITIL Incident Management, Problem Management, Change Enablement, and continual improvement.

LEADERSHIP / SOFT SKILLS

• Ability to supervise day-to-day technical work, provide clear direction, and mentor engineers.

• Clear written and verbal communication with HR, candidates, technical teams, and business stakeholders.

• Strong ownership, prioritization, analytical thinking, and structured problem-solving skills.

• Ability to coordinate multiple priorities, make risk-based decisions, and lead improvement initiatives.
