Senior Specialist, Applications Development

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Specialist, Applications Development based in India.

As a Senior Specialist, Applications Development, you will lead the delivery and ongoing evolution of enterprise applications and software solutions. You will translate complex business requirements into scalable, reliable, and maintainable technical solutions. The role spans application development, integrations, production support, and technology modernization. You will take ownership of complex technical issues, drive root cause analysis, and help maintain high levels of application availability and performance. Working across Agile, DevOps, and cross-functional environments, you will collaborate with engineering, QA, business, and technology teams. Your expertise will contribute directly to automation, operational efficiency, system scalability, and continuous engineering improvement.

• Lead the design, development, testing, deployment, and implementation of enterprise applications and software solutions.
• Translate business and functional requirements into scalable technical architectures and effective application solutions.
• Develop high-quality, maintainable, reusable code in line with established coding standards, engineering practices, and quality expectations.
• Design and implement APIs, integrations, microservices, and system interfaces to support reliable connectivity across applications and platforms.
• Drive application performance optimization, modernization, scalability, and reliability initiatives.
• Lead complex production troubleshooting and root cause analysis, ensuring critical application issues are resolved efficiently and sustainably.
• Provide advanced application support while monitoring application health, availability, performance, and overall system reliability.
• Coordinate application maintenance, patching, upgrades, deployments, and release activities.
• Participate across the full software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Support change management and release management processes to ensure controlled and successful delivery of application changes.
• Partner with QA teams on test planning, defect resolution, and ensuring comprehensive application testing.
• Maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, operational procedures, and other relevant engineering documentation.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions that improve application capabilities, scalability, performance, and efficiency.
• Drive automation, DevOps, CI/CD, and engineering excellence initiatives while promoting modern Agile and software engineering practices.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and contribute to initiatives that strengthen application operations and delivery.

Requirements

• 5–8+ years of professional experience in software development, application development, application management, or a related technology discipline.
• Demonstrated experience designing, developing, implementing, and supporting enterprise-scale applications.
• Strong understanding of the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), from requirements analysis and technical design through development, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Experience working in Agile, Scrum, DevOps, or hybrid delivery environments.
• Strong software engineering skills with the ability to produce clean, maintainable, reusable, and scalable code.
• Experience with APIs, integrations, microservices, and enterprise system interfaces.
• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis capabilities, with the ability to resolve complex production issues and identify long-term solutions.
• Understanding of application performance, availability, reliability, monitoring, and modernization practices.
• Experience with release management, change management, application maintenance, upgrades, and deployment processes.
• Familiarity with automation, CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and modern application engineering principles.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business needs into practical technical solutions.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical, business, QA, and operations teams.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and take ownership of complex technical initiatives.
• A continuous-improvement mindset and willingness to evaluate new technologies and identify opportunities to improve engineering efficiency and application performance.
