This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Software Engineer, Device Management based in India.
As a Staff Software Engineer, you will provide technical leadership for complex initiatives across a modern device and IT management platform. You will tackle some of the most challenging engineering problems while shaping architecture, technical standards, and scalable product capabilities. The role focuses heavily on device management and policy enforcement across Apple, Windows, Linux, iOS, and Android environments. You will work across distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, microservices, databases, and SaaS architectures to deliver highly available and performant solutions. Beyond hands-on development, you will influence multiple engineering teams and collaborate with Product, UX, Principal Engineers, and Architects. This is a remote-first opportunity for a technically strong leader who can operate effectively in ambiguity and drive meaningful outcomes at scale.
Accountabilities:
You will serve as a senior technical leader, owning complex engineering challenges while influencing architecture, product direction, engineering practices, and the development of other engineers.
- Tackle the largest and most complex technical problems across the engineering organization.
- Act as a technical leader on cross-functional initiatives spanning multiple teams.
- Research, experiment, and independently investigate problems when requirements are incomplete or ambiguous.
- Partner with Product Managers and UX teams to clarify requirements and shape effective solutions.
- Decompose complex technical challenges into simple, scalable, and practical solutions.
- Drive the design and implementation of highly available, reliable, and performant systems.
- Influence technical direction by sharing deep engineering knowledge and establishing best practices.
- Collaborate with Principal Engineers and Architects to develop and maintain shared technical strategies.
- Partner with Engineering and Product Management teams on initiatives that create value across multiple teams.
- Design and architect solutions involving backend services, frontend components, databases, and supporting infrastructure.
- Contribute hands-on to new technology initiatives and product capabilities.
- Mentor engineers and support their career development, particularly on advanced technical challenges.
- Balance technical considerations with strong business judgment when making technology and architecture decisions.
- Promote engineering quality, reliability, scalability, and continuous improvement.
- Participate in on-call rotations and respond to production alerts during assigned shifts.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate is an accomplished software engineer and technical leader with extensive experience building distributed SaaS systems and deep expertise in device management and endpoint technologies.
- 12+ years of professional software engineering experience, including leadership of complex engineering projects.
- Strong experience with cloud technologies, microservices, and SaaS architectures.
- Strong proficiency in Go and familiarity with Java, TypeScript, or other modern programming languages.
- Deep domain expertise in Apple, Windows, and Android device management and policy enforcement.
- Extensive knowledge of Mobile Device Management (MDM) and endpoint management architectures.
- Experience with device enrollment, policy management, Apple Push Notification service, and device-management technologies across macOS, Windows, Linux, iOS, and Android.
- Hands-on experience with public cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Experience with containerized environments, particularly Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, preferably GitHub Actions.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems and databases.
- Experience designing and architecting solutions that integrate multiple services, frontend components, databases, and infrastructure.
- Strong foundation in software engineering design principles and architecture.
- Proven ability to technically lead and oversee complex projects across multiple teams from conception through completion.
- Ability to operate effectively with ambiguity, establish clarity, and deliver incremental value.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Proven ability to work effectively in fast-moving, highly collaborative environments.
- Experience mentoring engineers and providing guidance on advanced technical issues.
- Experience working with geographically distributed engineering teams in a remote-first environment.
- Fluent written and spoken English, as the organization operates primarily in English.
