T H E   R O L E: Trainee Product Engineer

Location: Mumbai

Here's what you will get to explore:

You will own problems, not tickets. The problem is closed when it is actually solved for the customer - not when your part of it is finished.

You will build and ship parts of a security product that has to behave identically on thousands of machines you will never see, in environments you cannot control, where getting it wrong is not a cosmetic bug.

You will be responsible for whether your work survives contact with reality - designing how it should be proven, finding the failure before a customer does, and standing behind it once it ships.

You will be handed problems that arrive without a clean description: a log file, an environment you have never touched, and a customer who is already unhappy. Working out what actually happened is the job.

You will automate anything you have been asked to do more than twice. We would rather you spent a week building the tool than a year running the process.

You will work across the engineering organisation rather than inside one corner of it, and you will be expected to hold your own in a technical argument with people far more experienced than you.

You will work the full stack of the product rather than a slice of it - the interfaces customers touch, the services and APIs behind them, the agents running inside machines in another country, and the operating system and platform layers underneath. Full stack here goes considerably deeper than a web page and a database.

You will get hands-on with how real enterprise software is built and defended - encryption, platform and OS-level behaviour, enterprise integrations, and the systems Fortune 100 companies actually run on. Very few engineers get this range in their first years, and it is the fastest way we know to build genuine technical judgment.

You learn quickly, and you can point to proof of it. Tell us about something you did not know six months ago and can do now, and how you got there. Handed an unfamiliar codebase, domain or problem, you make yourself useful early rather than waiting until you feel ready. Half the tooling you will use in three years does not exist yet. Almost everything else on this list can be taught; this one cannot.

You can work out what is actually going on. You can read code you did not write - most engineering is comprehension before it is creation. And given a symptom, a log file and no direct access, you can reason your way toward what is really happening rather than guessing.

You automate by instinct. You have built something - a script, a tool, a small utility - because doing the task by hand was not a good use of your time.

You work AI-natively, and you know when not to trust it. You use AI to write, test, debug and investigate faster than anyone could two years ago, and you can recognise when the output is confidently wrong. Better still if you have gone below the surface - models, embeddings, agents, retrieval, evaluation, and what breaks and why. If you have not yet, what matters is that you want to. We are building AI into products that protect the world's most sensitive information, and that needs people curious about the internals, not only the interface. 

You can explain how you got to an answer. We are more interested in your reasoning than your conclusion. Engineers who can walk through their thinking make better decisions, and they make the people around them better too. 

You finish things. A working, unglamorous, shipped project tells us more than an elegant abandoned one. 

You do not draw lines around what counts as your job. The best engineers we have hired took on whatever the problem required and got sharper for it.
