About the Team and the Role

The Software team at Ather is responsible for building and maintaining robust software solutions, web applications, and APIs across platforms to deliver high-quality, scalable products.

This role is for a Software Development Engineer in Test - II who will drive end-to-end automation testing, tackle complex LCNC architecture challenges, manage CI/CD pipelines, and embed QA best practices early in the development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Breakdown high-level business cases and PRDs into comprehensive, traceable manual and automated test suites.

• Design, build, and execute scalable automation frameworks from scratch for WebApps, APIs, and various OSs using Playwright or Selenium.

• Address daily challenges of LCNC applications, including handling dynamic UI locators, shadow DOMs, and third-party API integrations.

• Oversee QA metrics, deliver regular automation updates, and conduct deep-dive Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on reported bugs.

• Manage test artifacts using tools like GitLab, Jira, or TestRail, and integrate automated test suites seamlessly into CI/CD execution pipelines.

• Implement left-shift testing by participating in early design walkthroughs and collaborating with developers to prevent defects proactively.

• Track releases end-to-end to ensure compliance with strict quality standards across rapid Agile sprint cycles.

• Take high ownership in a fast-paced environment while continuously advocating for QA processes and best practices.

Experience and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.

• 4 to 6 years of experience with E2E Test Automation tools.

Must Have Competencies

• Expertise in building scalable end-to-end automation testing frameworks from scratch using Playwright or Selenium WebDriver.

• Strong programming foundations and proficiency in version control systems, specifically Git.

• Comprehensive hands-on experience with API testing tools and frameworks such as Rest Assured.

• Deep analytical capability for system debugging, edge-case analysis, and conducting root cause analysis on software defects.

Good to have Competencies

• Familiarity with LCNC application testing strategies, particularly with Mendix low-code application environments.

• Practical understanding of integrating automated test suites within continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) execution pipelines.

• Knowledge of strategies for testing dynamic UI locators, shadow DOM structures, and third-party API integrations.

• Understanding of software quality assurance metrics, defect tracking tools, and test management platforms like Jira or TestRail.
