About the Team and the Role The Manufacturing Operations team at Ather is responsible for managing all shift maintenance operations, ensuring the reliability of machinery, and driving preventive and predictive maintenance initiatives at the Vehicle / Battery plant. This role is for a Shift Incharge - Maintenance who will oversee the maintenance of special purpose machines, develop maintenance programs, and ensure the seamless introduction of new equipment while managing spare parts inventory and team safety.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs to optimize reliability and minimize equipment downtime.

• Manage shift maintenance operations and delegate tasks effectively to technicians aligned with their competencies.

• Conduct Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) across machine subsystems and plant equipment.

• Perform Root Cause Analysis to resolve breakdowns and troubleshoot electrical, PLC, and electronic interlocks.

• Oversee the maintenance budget, track operational expenses, and manage spare parts forecasting and inventory.

• Monitor maintenance logs, report on daily shift activities, and manage periodic calibration of sub-systems.

• Facilitate the introduction, installation, and process integration of new machinery alongside relevant stakeholders.

• Drive team implementation of Kaizen initiatives, safety compliance standards, and 5S workplace organization.

Experience and Qualifications

• B.E/B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

• 4-8 years of hands-on experience in Special Purpose Machine (SPM) and equipment maintenance within the automotive sector.

Must Have Competencies

• Comprehensive maintenance, diagnosis, and servicing of Special Purpose Machines (SPM) and specialized automotive manufacturing equipment.

• Systematic troubleshooting and rectification of electrical circuits, PLCs, HMIs, DC tool nutrunners, electronic interlocks, conveyors, and electro-pneumatic systems.

• Development and execution of condition-based predictive maintenance schedules and reliability-centered preventive maintenance routines.

• Inspection, overhaul, and maintenance of hydraulic circuits, pneumatic actuators, and industrial refrigerant cooling units.

Good to Have Competencies

• Application of Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) methodologies and structured Root Cause Analysis (RCA) frameworks to plant failures.

• Operational handling, parameter setup, and integration of servo drives, variable frequency drives (VFDs), power electronic amplifiers, and LVDT sensors.

• Engineering budget tracking, spare parts lifecycle forecasting, and store inventory replenishment management.

• Calibration, health monitoring, and maintenance protocols for industrial sensors, process heating elements, compressors, and diesel generator sets.
