This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Presales and Solutions Engineer — Power Systems and Energy Software based in India.
This is a highly visible, customer-facing role at the intersection of software engineering, power systems, and energy technology. You’ll serve as a technical and domain expert for utilities, distributed energy resource providers, and energy-software organizations across international markets. The role combines discovery, solution shaping, technical demonstrations, proposal development, and customer engagement. You’ll translate complex grid and energy-market challenges into practical software solutions while partnering closely with engineering teams. You’ll have significant autonomy in shaping customer conversations, proposals, and market positioning. The position also offers opportunities to represent the organization at industry conferences and engage directly with senior technical and business stakeholders.
Lead and co-lead discovery sessions with prospects to understand their grid, distributed energy resource, utility, or energy-market challenges and identify appropriate solution approaches.
Conduct tailored technical product demonstrations for different audiences, including utility program managers, technology leaders, energy operations teams, and other stakeholders.
Translate customer requirements and technical challenges into clear solution concepts that can be evaluated and delivered by engineering teams.
Prepare and co-author technical sections of proposals, RFP responses, and other customer-facing materials.
Act as the technical and domain voice in customer meetings, collaborating closely with engineering teams throughout the presales and solution-definition process.
Explain system architecture, integration approaches, data flows, and relevant technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Represent the organization at industry conferences, trade shows, and technical events, delivering product demonstrations and participating in technical discussions.
Capture customer feedback, objections, requirements, and competitive intelligence and communicate these insights to product and leadership teams.
Contribute to solution positioning and help refine how energy and power-systems capabilities are communicated to prospective customers.
Work with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to shape proposals, customer strategies, and opportunities for business growth.
5–8 years of experience in software engineering, systems engineering, technical delivery, or a related technical discipline, with meaningful exposure to the power, utility, or energy sector.
Experience with areas such as SCADA, AMI, grid operations, renewable energy integration, energy analytics, or related power-systems technologies.
Previous experience in a customer-facing or cross-functional technical role such as presales, solutions engineering, technical account management, consulting, or technical delivery.
Ability to understand and discuss system architecture, software integrations, and data-flow concepts without necessarily being responsible for hands-on implementation.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to varied audiences.
Experience preparing technical proposals, RFP responses, presentations, or other customer-facing technical documentation.
Ability to understand complex customer requirements and translate them into practical technical solution concepts.
Comfortable working independently in a highly visible role while collaborating closely with engineering, product, sales, and leadership teams.
Willingness to travel domestically and occasionally internationally for customer engagements and industry events.
Nice to have: familiarity with power and energy protocols or standards such as OpenADR, IEEE 2030.5, DNP3, IEC 61850, SunSpec, OCPP, or CIM/CGMES.
Nice to have: exposure to DERMS or VPP platforms, energy markets, ISO operations, or utility demand-response programs.
Nice to have: previous experience representing a technology organization at conferences, trade shows, or industry events.
High-autonomy and high-visibility position with direct exposure to customer relationships.
Opportunity to influence how power-systems and energy software solutions are positioned in the market.
Competitive compensation aligned with the seniority and scope of the role.
Remote working opportunity in India.
Opportunities for domestic and occasional international travel.
Direct interaction with utilities, energy technology companies, and senior industry stakeholders.
Exposure to grid modernization, distributed energy resources, energy markets, and emerging energy technologies.
Opportunity to collaborate closely with engineering and leadership teams on complex customer challenges.
