Specialist, Applications Development

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Specialist, Applications Development based in India.

This role offers the opportunity to develop, enhance, and support business-critical applications in a modern technology environment. You will contribute across the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering and solution design through development, testing, deployment, and production support. The position combines hands-on application development with troubleshooting, performance optimization, and continuous improvement. You’ll collaborate closely with business users, analysts, architects, and project managers to translate operational needs into reliable technical solutions. The role also places strong emphasis on secure coding, quality, compliance, and maintainable application architecture. It is well suited to a technically capable professional who enjoys solving problems and delivering dependable enterprise solutions.

• Design, develop, test, and implement software applications based on defined business and technical requirements.
• Develop and maintain application components, APIs, interfaces, integrations, and related technical solutions.
• Conduct code reviews and follow established coding standards, development methodologies, and engineering best practices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application defects, bugs, performance issues, and production incidents.
• Provide Level 2 and Level 3 support for production applications, ensuring timely resolution of technical issues.
• Monitor application performance and proactively identify opportunities to improve stability, availability, and efficiency.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive and corrective measures to reduce recurring issues.
• Manage application upgrades, patches, enhancements, and ongoing maintenance activities.
• Participate throughout the software lifecycle, including requirements analysis, solution design, development, testing, deployment, and post-production support.
• Support release management, change management, deployment activities, and production transitions.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation, including design specifications, technical procedures, and user guides.
• Collaborate with business users, analysts, architects, project managers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.
• Provide technical guidance and recommendations for application enhancements and improvements.
• Develop and execute unit and integration tests to validate application quality and reliability.
• Follow secure coding practices and support vulnerability remediation and other security requirements.
• Ensure applications meet relevant performance, security, governance, compliance, audit, and regulatory requirements.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and help strengthen application development and support processes.

Requirements

• Relevant professional experience in software development, application development, and/or application support.
• Hands-on understanding of the software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Experience working in Agile, Scrum, DevOps, or similar collaborative technology environments is preferred.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities, with a structured approach to identifying root causes and implementing sustainable solutions.
• Good understanding of application development principles, coding standards, software testing, and technical documentation.
• Ability to work effectively with business users, technical teams, architects, analysts, and project managers.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into practical technical solutions.
• Understanding of application performance, security, vulnerability management, and compliance considerations.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and provide reliable production support.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality, secure, and maintainable applications.
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative, cross-functional team.
• A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline is desirable.
