ServiceNow Senior Software Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a ServiceNow Senior Software Engineer based in India.

This is a senior ServiceNow engineering role focused on delivering scalable, high-quality solutions for complex enterprise environments.
You will lead and mentor software engineers while contributing hands-on to large-scale professional services projects.
The role combines technical design, platform development, configuration, integrations, ITSM processes, and operational support.
You will work closely with customers, end users, technical SMEs, IT teams, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.
A key focus will be ServiceNow customization, CMDB, service mapping, event management, workflows, and integrations with external systems.
You will also contribute to production support, documentation, testing, and consistent engineering practices across ServiceNow environments.
The role provides opportunities to deepen ServiceNow expertise through training, certifications, and exposure to innovative enterprise technology solutions.

• Lead, coach, and mentor software engineers delivering ServiceNow development and professional services solutions.
• Gather and analyze ITSM requirements by working directly with end users, IT teams, customers, and key stakeholders.
• Translate functional and technical requirements into scalable ServiceNow solutions using established development standards and leading practices.
• Customize ServiceNow applications and support the rollout of new applications and modules.
• Configure Application UI, workflows, work orders, transfer orders, inventory, and technician locations according to business requirements.
• Design, configure, and maintain integrations between ServiceNow and external applications.
• Implement integrations using REST and SOAP web services, including bi-directional and automated system integrations.
• Work with both MID Servers and cloud-to-cloud integrations to support enterprise connectivity requirements.
• Contribute to ServiceNow CMDB, Discovery, Software Asset Management, ITSM, Service Catalog, and Workflow implementations.
• Support service mapping and event management activities by gathering environment information from technical SMEs.
• Reflect impact assessment rules within service maps and validate mappings and rules with technical SMEs and business stakeholders.
• Participate in user acceptance testing for service maps, impact rules, and event management solutions.
• Promote update sets and relevant data across applicable ServiceNow environments.
• Troubleshoot and remediate production incidents related to assigned ServiceNow solutions and integrations.
• Collaborate with technical leads to ensure consistent implementation approaches and avoid disruption to shared ServiceNow patterns.
• Proactively maintain operational documentation, technical documentation, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Create technical design documents and user-facing documentation to support implementation and ongoing operations.
• Participate in continuous platform improvement and identify opportunities to enhance reliability, efficiency, and user experience.
• Stay current with ServiceNow platform capabilities and continue developing expertise through certifications, training, and hands-on learning.

Requirements:

• 3+ years of experience supporting the implementation, administration, configuration, and/or development of ServiceNow.
• Experience working across at least two ServiceNow capabilities, such as ITSM, ITOM, ITAM, Platform, CSM, or related modules.
• Strong hands-on experience with ITSM, CSM, FSM, or related ServiceNow processes.
• Proven experience integrating ServiceNow with other systems and platforms using MID Servers and cloud-to-cloud integration approaches.
• Strong experience with REST and SOAP web services.
• Experience developing or supporting bi-directional and automated integrations between enterprise systems.
• Knowledge of data extraction technologies such as JDBC and ODBC, as well as ETL integration approaches.
• Proven experience implementing and configuring ServiceNow CMDB, Discovery, Software Asset Management, ITSM, Service Catalog, and Workflows.
• Deep understanding of the ServiceNow CMDB and associated processes.
• Strong knowledge of ServiceNow scripting, including Business Rules, Client Scripts, UI Builder, Scripted REST APIs, and Script Includes.
• Ability to gather technical requirements and translate them into effective ServiceNow solutions.
• Experience creating technical design documents and user documentation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly when troubleshooting complex platform and integration issues.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers, end users, technical SMEs, IT teams, and other stakeholders.
• Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills, combined with the ability to work independently.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and mentor other software engineers.
• Strong understanding of software development best practices, code quality, and internal engineering standards.
• Four-year undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated professional experience.
• Willingness and ability to continue professional education within the ServiceNow platform and related technologies.
• Ability to complete relevant ServiceNow competency certifications and module accreditations.
• Preferred certifications include ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA), Certified Application Developer (CAD), CIS-ITSM, and CIS-SAM/SAM Pro.
