Senior Test Software Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Test Software Engineer based in India.

This role sits within a test automation team focused on delivering reliable, high-quality software across multiple projects and products. You will design, develop, and maintain automated testing solutions using Playwright and Python, while contributing to the evolution of modern test frameworks. The position combines automation engineering with API, database, accessibility, compatibility, integration, and functional testing. You will help migrate existing Selenium-based automation to Playwright and integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines. The role also involves mentoring colleagues, solving complex testing challenges, and driving continuous improvements in quality and delivery efficiency. You’ll work in a collaborative global environment where ownership, analytical thinking, and dependable delivery are highly valued.

• Design, develop, maintain, and execute robust automated tests using Playwright and Python across different testing phases.

• Contribute to the development and evolution of test automation frameworks, including the migration of existing Selenium automation to Playwright.

• Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines to enable reliable and efficient execution.

• Maintain existing automation suites and continuously improve their stability, coverage, maintainability, and effectiveness.

• Perform API testing and contribute to functional, system, system integration, regression, and user acceptance testing.

• Conduct database, compatibility, and accessibility testing in line with project requirements and test plans.

• Perform manual functional testing when required and document test execution results accurately.

• Analyze requirements and test scenarios, identify potential risks, and prepare appropriate test deliverables.

• Investigate defects and testing issues, perform troubleshooting and debugging, and report findings through established defect management processes.

• Develop custom logic and algorithms to address complex test automation challenges.

• Apply object-oriented programming principles when developing automation scripts and reusable testing components.

• Contribute ideas and technical solutions that improve product quality, testing efficiency, and time to market.

• Work independently on assigned testing deliverables while following established tools, processes, and quality standards.

• Mentor other team members and provide guidance on automation practices, tools, and testing approaches.

• Deliver agreed testing commitments on schedule while maintaining a high standard of quality.

• Collaborate with distributed teams and remain flexible when occasional work outside standard business hours is required.

Requirements

• 2+ years of hands-on experience with Playwright and Python, with broader experience in software testing and test automation.

• Strong understanding of software testing methodologies and experience across multiple testing phases.

• Mandatory experience in API testing.

• Mandatory experience with either Azure or AWS cloud environments.

• Strong experience designing automation testing frameworks and developing automated tests with Playwright.

• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming concepts and their application to test automation.

• Experience with TDD and modern software quality practices.

• Knowledge of system/functional testing, system integration testing, regression testing, and UAT.

• Experience with database, compatibility, and accessibility testing.

• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and debugging abilities.

• Ability to create custom logic and algorithms to solve challenging automation problems.

• Ability to learn and apply existing tools and frameworks with limited supervision while following established guidelines.

• Demonstrated initiative in identifying problems and developing practical testing solutions.

• Strong ownership and organizational skills, with a consistent record of delivering work on time and to a high standard.

• Ability to mentor and support other team members.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills, particularly within a global or distributed working environment.
