This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Android Engineer based in India.
Join a high-impact engineering team building and evolving high-performance Android applications used in demanding, data-driven environments. You’ll own features and modules end-to-end, from technical design through development, testing, and release. The role offers significant influence over application architecture, engineering standards, and product quality. You’ll work closely with product and backend teams to create robust APIs and seamless mobile experiences. You’ll also have the opportunity to evaluate emerging Android technologies and introduce improvements across the stack. Design, develop, maintain, and optimize advanced Android applications using Kotlin, Java, and modern Android frameworks.
Own features and technical modules throughout their full lifecycle, from architecture and implementation to testing, deployment, and ongoing improvement.
Collaborate with product managers and backend engineers to define requirements, design solutions, and integrate reliable APIs.
Contribute to architectural decisions and continuously improve application structure, scalability, performance, and maintainability.
Conduct thoughtful code reviews and promote engineering best practices across performance, security, reliability, and code quality.
Investigate and adopt relevant Android technologies, frameworks, and tools to improve the product and development process.
Diagnose crashes, performance issues, memory problems, and power-consumption concerns, implementing effective solutions.
Help maintain a high-quality user experience through rigorous testing and disciplined development practices.
7+ years of professional software development experience, including at least 5 years of hands-on Android development.
Strong proficiency in Kotlin and Java, with a solid understanding of modern Android development practices.
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, with strong computer science fundamentals.
Deep knowledge of Android fundamentals, including Jetpack components, multithreading, networking, memory management, and data storage.
Practical experience with architectural patterns such as MVC, MVVM, or VIPER.
Proven ability to optimize application performance, investigate crashes, and improve memory and battery efficiency.
Experience with Android libraries and services such as Volley, Glide, Lottie, and Firebase, including Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM).
Strong problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and ownership skills, with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Nice to have: experience with the Google Play submission and review process.
Nice to have: familiarity with email protocols such as SMTP and IMAP.
Nice to have: exposure to Linux environments or backend services.
Nice to have: experience with hybrid mobile development using React Native.
