Senior Software Development Engineer ( Labs)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer (Labs) based in India.

This role focuses on building the platform that enables engineering teams to release, test, and scale new capabilities safely. You will work across feature flags, staged rollouts, experimentation, and customer feedback systems serving a large global user base. The platform supports gradual feature enablement, targeted rollouts, real-time monitoring, and rapid rollback when issues arise. As an SDE-3, you will contribute across both frontend and backend development while influencing architecture and technical decisions. You will solve challenges involving high-throughput systems, scalable APIs, distributed services, and low-latency data access. The role offers significant ownership, close collaboration with product and design teams, and an opportunity to apply AI-assisted engineering practices throughout the development lifecycle.

• Own and contribute to the architecture, design, and development of core platform capabilities covering feature flags, staged rollouts, experimentation, and customer feedback.
• Design and build scalable backend services, APIs, integrations, and internal microservices with strong emphasis on reliability, security, performance, and maintainability.
• Develop performant frontend experiences for feature-flag management, rollout configuration, and feedback workflows using modern frameworks and component-driven architecture.
• Drive technical decisions independently, evaluating risks and trade-offs while taking complex features from technical design through implementation, deployment, and production.
• Design data models, efficient queries, and caching strategies using technologies such as MongoDB and Redis to support low-latency feature evaluation at scale.
• Work with event-driven architectures and messaging systems, integrating distributed services and ensuring reliable cross-service communication.
• Apply AI-first development practices and AI-assisted tools to accelerate development, testing, debugging, refactoring, and engineering productivity while maintaining quality and security standards.
• Participate throughout the SDLC, including requirements analysis, technical planning, coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, production support, and incident resolution.
• Build strong observability through logging, metrics, monitoring, tracing, and error tracking to improve reliability and accelerate production troubleshooting.
• Write clean, secure, efficient, and testable code supported by appropriate unit and integration test coverage.
• Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, incident response, and operational support, including on-call responsibilities where applicable.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and Engineering teams to translate business requirements into scalable and reliable technical solutions.
• Contribute to engineering standards around security, scalability, maintainability, documentation, testing, and production readiness.

Requirements:

• 4+ years of hands-on software engineering experience building robust backend systems and high-performance frontend applications.
• Strong backend expertise with Node.js, TypeScript, API development, data modeling, and system design; experience with NestJS is preferred.
• Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, distributed systems, and cross-service communication.
• Hands-on experience with MongoDB, Redis, or similar data stores, including data modeling, query design, caching, and performance optimization.
• Experience with event-driven architectures and messaging technologies such as GCP Pub/Sub, Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar platforms.
• Exposure to AI/LLM application development, including LLM API integrations, prompt and context design, or AI-assisted product workflows.
• Good frontend development experience with Vue.js, React, Angular, or similar modern frameworks; Vue.js experience is preferred.
• Understanding of component-driven frontend architecture, modern CSS frameworks such as Tailwind CSS or Bootstrap, and state-management solutions such as Vuex/Pinia, Redux, or MobX.
• Experience with production observability and debugging, including logging, monitoring, tracing, error tracking, and performance profiling using tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, or Sentry.
• Familiarity with Agile development, modern SDLC practices, Git workflows, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with ClickHouse and Elasticsearch, including an understanding of when to use document databases, analytical databases, and search platforms.
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or comparable solutions.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills, with the ability to investigate issues spanning frontend, backend, databases, integrations, and distributed services.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to explain technical trade-offs, lead engineering discussions, and mentor other engineers.
• Strong ownership and execution mindset, with the ability to independently drive complex engineering problems through to high-quality production solutions.
