Role Overview
The AWS Data Engineer – Fleet will design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and analytics platforms to support fleet operations, telematics, and asset performance insights. This role focuses on processing high-volume, real-time, and batch data from fleet systems and enabling data-driven decision-making through reliable, secure, and performant AWS data solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines using AWS native services
Ingest and process fleet/telematics data (vehicle, asset, sensor, GPS, operational logs)
Build batch and real-time processing solutions using AWS Glue, Lambda, Kinesis, and EMR
Model and optimize data for analytics, reporting, and downstream consumption
Develop and maintain data lakes on Amazon S3 with proper partitioning and governance
Implement data transformations using PySpark, SQL, and Python
Ensure data quality, validation, monitoring, and lineage
Optimize performance and cost across AWS data services
Collaborate with data scientists, product teams, and business stakeholders
Implement security, access controls, and compliance using IAM, encryption, and AWS best practices
Support CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
Required Skills & Experience
Core Technical Skills
6+ years of experience in Data Engineering or related roles
Strong hands-on experience with AWS data services:
S3, Glue, Athena, Redshift
Kinesis (Streams / Firehose)
Lambda, Step Functions
EMR (Spark)
Strong programming skills in Python, PySpark, and SQL
Experience with real-time and streaming data pipelines
Hands-on experience with data modeling (star/snowflake, dimensional models)
Fleet / Domain Experience (Preferred)
Experience with fleet management, telematics, IoT, logistics, or asset tracking data
Handling GPS, time-series, event-based, and sensor data
Knowledge of route optimization, vehicle utilization, maintenance, or fuel analytics
Cloud, DevOps & Governance
Experience with CI/CD (Git, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline)
Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or AWS CloudFormation
Monitoring and logging using CloudWatch
Data security, encryption, and access control using IAM, KMS
Understanding of data governance, metadata, and cataloging (AWS Glue Data Catalog)
