Senior Data Engineer
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and optimize scalable data solutions that support analytics, reporting, and advanced data use cases. This role requires strong expertise in data analysis, data modeling, and data engineering, along with the ability to translate business requirements into robust, high-performance data architectures.
Key Responsibilities
Data Analysis & Requirements
Collaborate with business stakeholders, analysts, and product teams to understand data requirements and analytical needs
Analyze source systems and data flows to assess data quality, completeness, and usability
Translate business requirements into technical specifications and data solutions
Data Modelling & Design
Design and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models
Define and implement dimensional, relational, and analytical data models (e.g., star/snowflake schemas)
Establish data standards, naming conventions, and best practices
Support master data, reference data, and metadata management
Data Engineering & Development
Design, build, and optimize scalable ETL/ELT pipelines
Develop and maintain data warehouses, data lakes, and lakehouse architectures
Ensure data reliability, performance, scalability, and security
Implement data quality checks, validation rules, and monitoring processes
Optimize data processing and storage for performance and cost efficiency
Collaboration & Leadership
Mentor junior data engineers and provide technical guidance
Work closely with data analysts, BI developers, and data scientists
Contribute to architectural decisions and technical roadmaps
Participate in code reviews and promote engineering best practices
Required Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or related field
7+ years of experience in data engineering or related roles
Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills
Expertise in data modeling techniques and tools
Advanced SQL skills and experience with large-scale datasets
Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, Java, or Scala)
Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT tools and frameworks
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
Strong understanding of data warehousing and data lake architectures
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with modern data stacks (Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, Redshift)
Familiarity with orchestration tools (Airflow, Azure Data Factory, Prefect)
Knowledge of DevOps/DataOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
Experience with streaming data (Kafka, Kinesis, Event Hubs)
Understanding of data governance, privacy, and security frameworks
