The IT Network Engineer is responsible for implementing, maintaining, and optimising the organisation's network infrastructure. The role ensures high availability, security, and performance across LAN, WAN, WLAN, and cloud environments, while supporting network projects and staying current with emerging technologies.

Key Responsibilities

Design, implement, and maintain scalable and secure network solutions across LAN, WAN, WLAN, and cloud/hybrid environments.

Plan and execute network upgrades and migrations with minimal disruption to business operations.

Set up IT infrastructure for new sites in line with business requirements.

Monitor network performance and carry out capacity planning to meet current and future demand.

Troubleshoot and resolve network issues, implementing permanent fixes to prevent recurrence.

Implement and manage firewall policies, security rules, and access control systems in line with organisational security standards.

Apply security patches and updates to network devices and firewalls to mitigate vulnerabilities.

Manage ISP relationships, internet links, and PRI lines across office locations.

Maintain telephony and contact centre systems.

Configure and manage network access control (NAC) systems.

Manage VPN configurations and enforce secure remote connectivity.

Maintain network architecture diagrams, IP schema, and detailed configuration documentation.

Administer cloud networking environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and hybrid setups.

Review firewall rules periodically and enforce least-privilege access principles.

Manage SASE components including Web Proxy, ZTNA, DLP, and CASB modules.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.

CCNA or CCNP certification (or equivalent).

Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in network engineering.

Technical Skills

Strong working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NAT, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, and QoS.

Hands-on experience with enterprise network and security equipment (firewalls, switches, wireless controllers, NAC, WAF).

Experience with network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, PRTG, Dynatrace, or Wireshark.

Proficiency in cloud networking (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and hybrid network environments.

Exposure to SASE and ZTNA solutions.

Competencies
