Python Developer (IoT & Industrial Automation)

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

Application Development

• Design, develop, and maintain Python applications across Ubuntu, Windows, and Dockerized environments.
• Develop scalable and maintainable modules for handling, validating, parsing, and managing large JSON datasets, including Modbus device templates.
• Work with industrial communication protocols such as Modbus TCP, Modbus RTU, MQTT, OPC UA, and related technologies.
• Collaborate with UI/UX teams to integrate backend services with modern frontend applications.
• Ensure application performance, reliability, scalability, and security.
• Participate in technical design discussions and contribute to architectural decisions.

Code Quality & Best Practices

• Follow established coding standards, architectural patterns, and documentation guidelines.
• Write clean, modular, and maintainable Python code using Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles.
• Develop unit and integration tests using pytest or equivalent testing frameworks.
• Participate in peer code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
• Continuously improve code quality through best practices and automation.

CI/CD, Deployment & DevOps

• Build, maintain, and optimize Jenkins CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment processes.
• Develop, debug, and optimize Dockerfiles, container images, and multi-stage builds.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to manage environments, improve deployment reliability, and optimize container performance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve deployment and environment-related issues.

Data Handling & Device Configuration Management

• Manage device configuration repositories containing Modbus and protocol-based templates.
• Implement schema validation, business rules, and data transformation logic for large configuration datasets.
• Enhance the storage, indexing, accessibility, and maintainability of configuration metadata.
• Ensure consistency and integrity of device configuration data.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with UI/UX designers to deliver seamless user experiences.
• Collaborate with QA, DevOps, Product Management, and Platform Engineering teams.
• Translate business and functional requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the software development lifecycle.

Required Technical Skills

Experience

• 6+ years of professional experience in Python application development.
• Strong experience in developing enterprise-grade software solutions.

Core Technical Expertise

• Strong knowledge of:
  • Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) in Python
  • JSON parsing, schema validation, and data manipulation
  • Advanced Python concepts such as:
    • Decorators
    • Generators
    • Multiprocessing
    • Asynchronous programming (preferred)

Development Tools & Technologies

• Experience with:
  • pytest or other Python testing frameworks
  • Git version control
  • Linux (Ubuntu) and Windows environments
  • Docker containerization and image optimization
  • Jenkins CI/CD pipelines

Additional Knowledge

• Familiarity with frontend integration patterns and UI/UX development workflows.
• Understanding of software architecture, scalability, and performance optimization.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, MQTT, OPC UA, or similar technologies.
• Knowledge of Industrial IoT (IIoT) systems and industrial automation solutions.
• Experience managing device configuration repositories and metadata-driven platforms.
• Exposure to container orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Familiarity with code quality and static analysis tools such as:
  • flake8
  • Black
  • mypy
  • pylint
