About the Team and the Role:
The Manufacturing Engineering team is at the core of bringing our innovative electric vehicle components to life. As the Hardware Test Engineering Lead, you will be at the forefront of ensuring the quality and reliability of our cutting-edge electric vehicle components. Based at IBC Knowledge Park, Bangalore, and reporting to the Team Lead of Manufacturing Engineering - Hardware Assembly, you will be instrumental in defining and executing the testing strategy for critical electronic control units, shaping the future of our vehicle's performance.
Responsibilities:
Lead and mentor a team of test engineers, driving the complete hardware testing lifecycle from strategy and roadmap definition to execution and delivery.
Develop comprehensive test plans, detailed specifications, and validation criteria for critical EV components including MCUs, VCUs, and BMS modules.
Manage the end-to-end development and delivery of Automated Test Equipment (ATE), including ICTs, FCTs, and FPTs, ensuring they meet program timelines, cost, and quality targets.
Direct the selection of test equipment and collaborate with external vendors to design, build, and validate robust test fixtures and tools.
Oversee all tester documentation, including BOMs, control plans, and FMEAs, and lead equipment stabilisation, PPAP, and root cause analysis for PCBA and box-build failures.
Forecast NREs, process cycle times, and yields to meet production TAKT and OEE requirements, making critical make-versus-buy decisions for test systems.
Experience and Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree (B.Tech/B.E/M.tech/M.E) in Electrical, Electronics, Electronics & Communication, Instrumentation & Control Engineering, or a related field.
7-9 years of relevant experience in hands-on ATE development for hardware modules in the automotive, IoT, or consumer electronics domain.
Must have Competencies:
Proven expertise in developing and deploying Automated Test Equipment (ATE) for complex electronic hardware modules, including ICT, FCT, and FPT systems.
Strong proficiency in test automation, including test plan development, test case scripting, and the design of test jigs and fixtures.
In-depth knowledge of embedded hardware systems and communication protocols such as CAN, SPI, UART, and Ethernet.
Demonstrated leadership experience in managing engineering projects, collaborating with vendors, and leading technical teams to meet delivery targets.
Good to have Competencies:
Hands-on experience with National Instruments LabVIEW for test sequence development and automation.
Familiarity with wireless protocol testing (4G, GNSS, Wi-Fi, BT) and a deep understanding of microcontroller and microprocessor architectures.
Practical knowledge of Design for Test (DFT) principles, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and quality processes such as MSA and Gage R&R.
Proficiency with a wide range of test and measurement equipment, including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and thermal chambers.
