About the Team and the Role

The Manufacturing Operations team at Ather is responsible for building and maintaining world-class industrial infrastructure, ensuring seamless utility operations, and driving sustainable, scalable plant practices across manufacturing facilities.

This role is for a Plant Engineer - Mechanical Utilities who will lead the design, planning, execution, and optimization of mechanical utilities and MEPF systems for both greenfield and brownfield projects.

Responsibilities

• Oversee end-to-end MEPF (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Fighting) projects across the manufacturing plant, from initial concept to execution.

• Prepare, design, and scrutinize MEP drawings and specifications for compressed air, HVAC, LNG distribution, air handling, and effluent treatment plants (ETP).

• Plan and execute process utility enhancements, modifications, and overall layout planning for greenfield and brownfield expansion projects.

• Conduct project feasibility studies, comprehensive financial assessments, cost estimations, and manage vendor/contractor deliverables.

• Monitor plant utility consumption and drive energy-saving and green initiatives to minimize operational carbon footprint.

• Drive cost-reduction initiatives focused on lowering operating and maintenance expenses for plant machinery and utility equipment.

• Coordinate periodic utility audits, ensure closure of non-conformance items, and implement continuous process improvements.

• Secure and renew all necessary statutory compliances, statutory approvals, and safety permits for plant utilities.

Experience and Qualifications

• B.E / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

• 6 to 9 years of hands-on experience in MEPF utility design, project execution, and industrial infrastructure management.

Must Have Competencies

• Comprehensive knowledge of MEPF engineering design, system architecture, and layout planning for large-scale manufacturing facilities.

• Expertise in industrial mechanical utilities including compressed air distribution, HVAC, LNG piping systems, and water treatment/ETP operations.

• Proficiency in scrutinizing and evaluating technical MEP engineering drawings, technical specifications, and contractor documentation.

• Strong capability in vendor management, financial cost estimation, and project lifecycle scheduling for greenfield/brownfield developments.

Good to Have Competencies

• Execution experience in driving carbon footprint reduction, energy efficiency projects, and plant sustainability frameworks.

• Sound understanding of statutory regulatory requirements, environmental compliances, and industrial safety audits.

• Skill in optimizing machinery operating costs through utility efficiency improvements and lifecycle management.

• Ability to manage multi-stakeholder project coordination and cross-functional utility integrations.
