ETP Job Description – Pharma Industry
Job Title
ETP Operator / ETP Engineer / ETP Supervisor
Key Responsibilities
Operate and monitor the Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) and associated equipment.
Handle treatment processes such as equalization, pH correction, aeration, coagulation/flocculation, clarification, filtration and sludge handling.
Monitor parameters such as pH, COD, BOD, TSS, dissolved oxygen (DO), MLSS and flow as applicable.
Collect wastewater and treated-water samples for laboratory analysis.
Maintain daily ETP logbooks, operating records and checklists.
Monitor pumps, blowers, agitators, dosing systems, clarifiers, filters and other equipment.
Prepare and maintain chemical-dosing systems and ensure proper chemical handling.
Identify abnormal operating conditions and take corrective action.
Coordinate with the QC/Environmental team for wastewater testing and compliance.
Manage sludge generation, dewatering and disposal according to site procedures.
Ensure compliance with applicable CPCB/SPCB requirements and the company's environmental procedures.
Follow GMP, EHS, SOP and safety requirements applicable to the pharmaceutical facility.
Participate in preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of ETP equipment.
Maintain housekeeping and ensure safe working conditions around the ETP area.
Typical Qualification
Diploma/B.Tech/B.E. in Environmental, Chemical, Civil or related engineering disciplines.
For operator positions, ITI/Diploma candidates may also be considered depending on the company.
Experience in pharma, chemical or other industrial ETP operations is usually preferred.
