Role: Embedded Hardware Test Engineer

About the Team and the Role:
The Product Validation team at Ather is responsible for end-to-end testing, verification, and validation of embedded hardware and firmware systems in the electric vehicle domain, ensuring every product meets rigorous quality, reliability, and safety standards prior to launch.
This role is for an Embedded Hardware Test Engineer who will serve as the internal "first customer", developing robust manual and automated test environments, executing comprehensive test suites, and identifying critical defects across development cycles to elevate overall vehicle performance.
Responsibilities
Execute end-to-end testing and validation of embedded hardware products across all stages of the EV development lifecycle.
Act as the internal "first customer" to rigorously evaluate vehicle systems and provide actionable feedback during testing phases.
Collaborate closely with hardware and firmware design teams to translate product requirements into technical validation criteria.
Develop, configure, and maintain manual and automated test environments and test cases for core EV embedded hardware systems.
Execute functional, environmental, and stress test sequences to identify hardware and firmware defects and drive product improvements.
Validate core vehicle electronics to ensure strict adherence to safety, quality, and performance benchmarks before commercial release.
Experience and Qualifications
BE / B.Tech in EEE, ECE, or Mechatronics
1–2 years of experience in embedded hardware product testing within the electric vehicle or automotive domain
Must Have Competencies
Verification and validation of Electronic Control Units (ECUs) across hardware and firmware development cycles.
Testing and analysis of Controller Area Network (CAN) physical and application layers.
End-to-end test plan formulation, test setup configuration, and test case development for embedded systems.
Operation of benchtop diagnostic equipment including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, power analyzers, data loggers, electronic loads, and environmental chambers.
Good to Have Competencies
Validation of automotive RF modules encompassing Cellular, GPS, GNSS, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi technologies.
Programmable instrument control and automated test script development using Python, Arduino, C language.
Execution of electromagnetic interference (EMI), electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), and electrical safety compliance testing.
Analysis of microcontroller, microprocessor, and DSP architectures encompassing registers, buses, PWM, DMA, ADC, DAC, and watchdog timers.
