Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced EHS & ETP Officer/Executive to manage environmental compliance, Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) operations, workplace safety, and pollution control activities in a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility.

Key Responsibilities

1. Environment, Health & Safety (EHS)

• Implement and monitor EHS policies, procedures, and safety standards.
• Conduct workplace safety inspections, risk assessments, and safety audits.
• Ensure compliance with applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations.
• Conduct safety training, toolbox talks, and awareness programs for employees and contractors.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Monitor PPE compliance, permit-to-work systems, hot work permits, and work-at-height activities.
• Maintain EHS documentation, records, reports, and statutory registers.
• Support emergency preparedness, mock drills, fire safety, and incident management.
• Ensure safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous chemicals and waste.

2. Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP)

• Monitor and operate ETP facilities as per approved operating procedures.
• Monitor wastewater treatment processes, including pH adjustment, neutralization, chemical dosing, and sludge handling.
• Monitor parameters such as pH, COD, BOD, TSS, and other applicable effluent quality parameters.
• Ensure proper operation of pumps, tanks, agitators, aeration systems, and dosing systems.
• Coordinate wastewater sampling and testing with the laboratory.
• Maintain ETP logbooks, chemical consumption records, and daily operational reports.
• Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of ETP sludge and hazardous waste.
• Monitor treated effluent quality and ensure compliance with applicable pollution control board standards and consent conditions.
• Coordinate with the production, utility, maintenance, and environmental teams to resolve ETP-related issues.
• Support preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of ETP equipment.

3. Environmental Compliance

• Support compliance with applicable State Pollution Control Board and Central Pollution Control Board requirements.
• Maintain environmental monitoring records and assist with statutory reports and returns.
• Support hazardous waste management, wastewater monitoring, and environmental audits.
• Assist in ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 documentation and audit activities, where applicable.

Required Skills

• Practical knowledge of EHS practices in pharmaceutical/API manufacturing.
• Working knowledge of ETP operations and industrial wastewater treatment.
• Knowledge of environmental compliance and hazardous waste management.
• Good documentation, reporting, communication, and coordination skills.
• Ability to identify workplace hazards and implement corrective actions.

Experience Requirements

• 3–6 years of relevant experience in EHS, ETP, or environmental management in the pharmaceutical, API, or chemical industry.
• Hands-on experience in ETP operation, safety inspections, environmental monitoring, and compliance documentation is preferred.
