This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Tax Senior Associate based in India.
This is an opportunity for an experienced tax professional to join a growing internal tax team supporting innovative startup and high-growth clients.
You will take ownership of federal and state tax compliance engagements while contributing to tax planning, research, and advisory initiatives.
The role combines hands-on technical tax work with frequent collaboration across finance and accounting teams and direct client interaction.
You will manage multiple engagements simultaneously, identify potential issues early, and develop practical solutions that keep projects on track.
The position offers exposure to diverse corporate structures, including Corporations, Partnerships, and S-Corporations, as well as R&D tax credit support.
You will work in a fully remote environment where independence, attention to detail, professionalism, and a proactive “can-do” mindset are highly valued.
This role is well suited to someone who wants to deepen their US tax expertise while working closely with dynamic startup businesses and a collaborative global team.
Manage tax needs for startup clients in collaboration with internal teams and external partners, including support for R&D tax credit activities.
Plan, schedule, and execute client engagements while proactively identifying potential obstacles, risks, and solutions.
Prepare federal and state income tax returns for Corporations, Partnerships, and S-Corporations.
Review mid-level complexity tax returns prepared by tax staff to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
Manage multiple engagements and priorities concurrently while ensuring client deliverables are completed efficiently and on time.
Monitor changes in US tax legislation to identify compliance risks and potential tax planning opportunities.
Research and assess complex tax issues and develop appropriate solutions for existing and onboarding clients.
Implement tax planning opportunities and support clients in optimizing their tax positions.
Handle and resolve tax controversies and communicate with clients and tax authorities when representing client interests.
Collaborate with internal controller and accounting teams to ensure smooth and timely delivery of client services.
Contribute to ad-hoc tax projects and other initiatives as required.
3–5 years of experience in public accounting, with a focus on federal and state entity income tax compliance.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting from an accredited university.
CPA license and/or Enrolled Agent designation preferred but not required.
Strong knowledge of US federal and state tax regulations, with demonstrated experience resolving complex tax matters.
Extensive hands-on tax compliance experience using professional tax software; UltraTax and CCH experience are a plus.
General knowledge of R&D tax credits is an advantage.
Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, with the judgment to identify practical solutions to tax issues.
Tech-savvy mindset and the ability to quickly learn and effectively use existing and new software applications.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects, competing priorities, and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and quality.
High level of personal motivation, work ethic, professionalism, and attention to detail.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with confidence interacting with clients, colleagues, and tax authorities.
Collaborative and adaptable team player who is comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, remote environment.
Reliable internet service and a suitable workspace for full-time remote work.
Availability to work Monday through Friday, preferably aligned with EST hours, with typical working hours from 6:30 PM to 2:30 AM IST; timing may be negotiable.
