Senior QA Analyst (Frontend)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior QA Analyst (Frontend) based in India.

This role focuses on owning quality assurance across the frontend-to-middleware boundary of a complex, multi-step web onboarding workflow. You’ll go beyond scripted testing to design exploratory strategies that uncover subtle defects and unexpected behaviors. The position requires strong analytical thinking, structured test design, and the ability to model application behavior through state transitions and decision paths. You’ll investigate how different inputs, personas, and boundary conditions affect workflow progression and submission states. You’ll also work closely with developers and other QA professionals to triage defects, validate fixes, and strengthen overall test coverage. This is a remote, project-based opportunity with the potential for longer-term engagement based on performance and business needs.

• Design and execute advanced exploratory testing to uncover defects and behaviors that may not be identified through scripted test cases.

• Apply boundary testing and equivalence partitioning to develop efficient, high-coverage tests across valid, invalid, and edge-case inputs.

• Validate frontend behavior and middleware interactions, particularly around form validation, data submission, workflow progression, and confirmation states.

• Build, formalize, and maintain a state-transition model or finite state machine (FSM) representing the onboarding workflow and its observed behavior.

• Identify and document decision forks, state dependencies, persona-specific variations, equivalence classes, and boundary conditions.

• Validate application behavior against expected state transitions, including enabled/disabled actions, progression rules, submission states, and unexpected inputs.

• Lead defect triage activities, assessing issues based on severity, impact, reproducibility, and business relevance.

• Collaborate with developers to investigate root causes and verify that fixes address the original defect conditions.

• Review evidence from manual QA testing and translate observed frontend behavior into structured, validated testing models.

• Mentor junior QA testers on exploratory testing, structured test design, and effective defect analysis.

• Contribute to test strategy, coverage planning, and documentation for frontend and middleware features.

• Maintain traceability between observed UI behavior, FSM states, decision points, and supporting evidence.

• Produce a validated frontend and state-model evidence package for handoff to downstream middleware testing teams.

• Identify coverage gaps across representative onboarding personas and recommend additional controlled testing where required.

Requirements:

• 3–5+ years of professional experience as a QA Analyst, with exposure to both frontend and middleware testing.

• Strong hands-on experience with exploratory testing, boundary testing, and structured test design methodologies.

• Practical knowledge of equivalence partitioning and the ability to apply it to complex workflows and input conditions.

• Familiarity with state-machine, workflow-state, or state-transition concepts and experience validating multi-step applications against expected behavior.

• Strong defect triage experience, including severity and priority assessment, reproducibility analysis, and cross-functional coordination.

• Analytical mindset with the ability to identify non-obvious edge cases, dependencies, and unexpected workflow behaviors.

• Experience testing complex multi-step workflows such as onboarding, registration, account creation, or similar user journeys is strongly preferred.

• Ability to translate observed application behavior into structured state-transition models, workflow diagrams, or equivalent representations.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to lead technical discussions, collaborate with developers, and mentor other QA professionals.

• Working familiarity with browser and network developer tools; deep protocol-level networking expertise is not required.

• Strong attention to detail, documentation skills, and ability to work independently in a remote environment.

• Comfortable working on a focused, full-time freelance engagement of approximately 40 hours per week.
