Job Summary

.NET Backend Developer

 

  ROLE OVERVIEW 

We are hiring a Senior .NET Backend Developer at Band E2.2 to design, build and support high-quality, well-tested and maintainable .NET backend components and services. This is a senior individual-contributor role that combines hands-on delivery with technical leadership — resolving complex technical problems, defining and advocating best practices and coding standards, and mentoring team members in .NET, C# and SQL Server technologies.

You will operate as a trusted technical voice within your delivery pod: contributing to architecture and design discussions, participating in feasibility studies and risk assessments, and ensuring process compliance across assigned modules. You are expected to deliver committed scope predictably, support production systems, and communicate transparently with stakeholders on status, risks and escalations.

Key Responsibilities

  KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Technical Guidance & Best Practices

• Provide technical guidance and solutions by defining, advocating, and implementing best practices and coding standards in .NET development, ensuring high-quality outputs from the team.
• Participate in technical discussions and reviews, acting as a consultant for feasibility studies involving technical alternatives, architectural best practices, and risk assessments.
• Ensure process compliance in assigned modules and contribute to technical design discussions, estimation and solution options.

Development & Design

• Design and build .NET components, services and enhancements within the agreed architecture and standards.
• Translate user stories and specifications into clean, efficient and testable implementations.
• Handle complex technical problems, performance issues and non-trivial defects independently.
• Build and evolve .NET services, Web APIs and background workers with clean separation of concerns.
• Apply modern .NET features, configuration, logging and dependency injection consistently across the codebase.
• Modernize legacy .NET Framework components towards modern .NET, containers and cloud-ready hosting.

Quality Engineering

• Write and maintain unit, integration and regression tests to agreed coverage expectations.
• Participate actively in code reviews, providing and acting on constructive feedback.
• Apply secure coding practices, effective error handling and appropriate logging.

Delivery & Support

• Deliver committed scope within agreed sprint or release timelines with predictable quality.
• Support build, deployment, environment issues and release verification activities.
• Investigate production incidents, perform root-cause analysis and implement durable fixes.
• Prepare and submit comprehensive status reports to minimize exposure and risks on the project, facilitating timely closure of escalations and ensuring transparent communication with stakeholders.

Mentoring & Collaboration

• Develop and enhance team capabilities by mentoring members in .NET, C#, and SQL Server technologies, fostering growth and increasing overall productivity.
• Mentor junior developers through pairing, reviews and knowledge sharing.
• Work closely with leads, architects, QA, business analysts and support teams.
• Participate in agile ceremonies, backlog refinement and dependency discussions.

Skill Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE 

Experience

• 8+ years of hands-on .NET development experience in enterprise environments.
• Strong track record delivering production-grade components across full delivery cycles.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or IT, or equivalent experience.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in .NET Framework and .NET Core; strong knowledge of C# programming language.
• ASP.NET Core, Web API, dependency injection, async/concurrency, and performance tuning.
• In-depth understanding of SQL Server, database management, and Entity Framework.
• Enterprise application architecture: SOLID, design patterns, DDD, microservices, event-driven design.
• Exposure to Azure or equivalent cloud platforms, containers and orchestration, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code.
• Unit, integration, performance and resiliency testing; production readiness, monitoring, and root-cause analysis.
• Familiarity with software development methodologies, including Agile and DevOps.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think critically.

Education & Certifications

• Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (required).
• Relevant certifications are optional but valuable — the following are recognised at this level:
