We are currently seeking a Software Development Advisor to join our team in bengaluru, Karnātaka (IN-KA), India (IN).

Purpose

Provide operational and engineering support for Allianz database platforms, with primary responsibility for PostgreSQL (on Azure) and Snowflake environments, and secondary support for MongoDB, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure ,SQL Server (on Windows Server)  platforms  other databases- covering database design, integrity, security, and availability in line with business needs.

Key Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities

-  Administration and support of PostgreSQL database environments on Azure

-  Administration and support of Snowflake Data Warehouse environments

-  Database monitoring, capacity management and performance tuning

-  Guidance and support to application developers - schema design, code review, and SQL query tuning

-  Install, configure, tune and upgrade DBMS installations

-  Incident, problem and change management

-  Backup, recovery and disaster recovery planning

-  Management of database security and access controls

-  Support of production releases and deployments

-  Automation of DBA activities through scripting

 

Secondary Responsibilities

-  Support and troubleshooting for MongoDB environments (server infrastructure is Group-managed; this role owns database-level DBA activities)

-  Oracle database administration on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure

-  SQL Server operational support (on Windows Server)

-  Support for data migration and modernization initiatives

-  Participation in on-call and major incident activities

 

Mandatory Technical Skills

Database Technologies

-  PostgreSQL on Azure (Expert)

-  Snowflake (Expert)

-  MongoDB (Intermediate)

-  Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (Intermediate)

-  Microsoft SQL Server on Windows (Intermediate)

 

Technical Competencies

-  Database design concepts (normalization, storage management, performance-oriented design)

-  Deep SQL knowledge and query tuning techniques

-  Backup and recovery; high availability and disaster recovery

-  Database security and encryption

-  Data migration and replication

-  Application connectivity and database drivers

-  Shell scripting (Bash / Python / PowerShell)

-  Linux administration (PostgreSQL / Oracle / MongoDB) and Windows Server administration (SQL Server)

 

Cloud & DevOps

-  Azure cloud services (PostgreSQL hosting)

-  OCI cloud services (Oracle hosting)

-  CI/CD concepts and Git

-  Monitoring and observability tools

-  Infrastructure as Code concepts

 

Experience

-  8+ years database administration experience

-  2+ years Snowflake administration

-  2+ years PostgreSQL administration

-  Experience supporting mission-critical production environments

-  Experience working within ITIL support processes

 

Soft Skills

-  Open to learning new database technologies; collaborates well with devops and Other DBA  team members

-  Proactive, takes initiative

-  Team player, able to guide and coach less experienced colleagues

-  Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills

 

Nice to Have
