Position Overview

The Senior SAP GenAI Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting AI-powered business solutions across McCormick's SAP landscape. This role leverages SAP Business AI, SAP AI Core, SAP AI Foundation, SAP Build Code, SAP BTP, and modern Generative AI technologies to deliver intelligent business capabilities, workflow automation, conversational experiences, and agentic AI solutions.

The position works across SAP S/4HANA, SAP BTP, SAP Integration Suite, SAP Datasphere, SAP Analytics Cloud, and other SAP applications to embed AI capabilities into business processes and business applications.

The Senior SAP GenAI Engineer provides technical expertise in agentic AI systems design and development, SAP AI innovation, and the integration of large language models (LLMs) within the SAP ecosystem. The role collaborates closely with Enterprise Architecture, Responsible AI, Product Teams, and Business stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure, and production-ready AI solutions aligned with enterprise standards and SAP Clean Core principles.

Key Responsibilities

Design, build, deploy, and support Generative AI and Agentic AI solutions leveraging SAP AI Core, AI Foundation, SAP BTP, Joule, and SAP Build Code.
Develop AI agents, orchestration workflows, and autonomous business process solutions using modern agent frameworks and SAP BTP services.
Design and implement integrations between SAP platforms and internally provisioned enterprise AI services and approved foundation models.
Develop Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions utilizing SAP Datasphere, SAP HANA Cloud Vector Engine, enterprise knowledge repositories, and structured business data sources.
Build reusable AI frameworks, APIs, prompts, agent capabilities, accelerators, and development standards to enable scalable adoption of AI capabilities.
Support solution troubleshooting, prompt optimization, performance tuning, monitoring, and continuous improvement activities for AI-enabled applications.
Research emerging SAP AI and Agentic AI capabilities and contribute to innovation initiatives, proof-of-concepts, and pilot programs.

Secondary Responsibilities

Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture and Responsible AI teams to ensure alignment with enterprise standards.
Participate in technical design reviews and architecture discussions.
Contribute reusable frameworks, libraries, accelerators, and development standards.
Support proof-of-concepts and innovation initiatives.
Provide technical guidance and knowledge sharing across SAP development and integration teams.
Create and maintain technical documentation, development standards, and operational runbooks.
Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture, Responsible AI, Cybersecurity, and Product teams to ensure adherence to established enterprise standards.

Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Supervisor.

Required Qualifications

Level of Education and Discipline

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or related technical discipline.

Certification and/or Licenses

SAP BTP Certification
SAP Certified Associate – SAP Generative AI Developer

Experience - functional/industry/commercial knowledge, business acumen

6-8 years of experience in SAP ERP products and enterprise application development.
2+ years of hands-on experience developing Generative AI, LLM-based, Agentic AI, or AI-assisted business solutions.
Experience building applications and services on SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP).
Experience integrating SAP applications with enterprise AI platforms and approved foundation models.
Experience developing production-grade APIs, microservices, and cloud-native applications.
Experience delivering solutions using Agile product delivery methodologies.
Understanding of SAP ERP business processes and enterprise application landscapes.

Strong proficiency in Python development.
Hands-on experience with LangChain and LangGraph

Experience with prompt engineering, LLM evaluations, testing frameworks, and guardrails.
Experience developing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions.
Familiarity with GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, DevOps, and cloud-native development practices.
Understanding of application security, data privacy, and Responsible AI principles.
