Linux Platform Integration - Ubuntu Systems Senior Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Linux Platform Integration - Ubuntu Systems Senior Engineer based in India.

Work across the full Linux stack to optimize Ubuntu for the latest generation of desktop, server, and IoT hardware platforms.
You will collaborate closely with major silicon and technology partners to integrate new features, improve performance, and deliver high-quality Linux experiences.
The role spans areas including kernel integration, networking, virtualization, graphics, operating systems, and application technologies.
You will take a holistic view of platform architecture, contributing to technical planning, testing strategies, quality metrics, and system optimization.
As a senior technical contributor, you will also support customer engagements involving complete architectures from cloud to edge.
You will help partners integrate applications and SDKs, build device operating system images, and optimize workloads across Ubuntu Core, Desktop, and Server.

• Design and implement optimized Ubuntu integrations for the latest IoT, desktop, and server-class hardware platforms.
• Work closely with silicon manufacturers and technology partners to deliver high-quality Ubuntu experiences on next-generation platforms.
• Analyze the complete Linux stack, from kernel and hardware enablement through networking, virtualization, graphics, applications, and system services.
• Contribute to technical plans, platform architecture decisions, testing strategies, and quality metrics for partner solutions.
• Identify and implement performance enhancements and feature integrations for new hardware and software platforms.
• Serve as a technical lead during customer engagements involving complete system architectures spanning cloud, edge, and device environments.
• Help partners integrate applications, SDKs, and software components into Ubuntu-based platforms.
• Support the creation and optimization of device operating system images using Ubuntu technologies.
• Optimize applications and workloads across Ubuntu Core, Desktop, and Server environments.
• Troubleshoot complex platform integration and performance challenges across hardware and software layers.
• Collaborate with globally distributed engineering teams and external technical partners to deliver solutions across multiple industries.
• Stay current with emerging operating system, hardware, application, and enterprise technologies and apply relevant innovations to platform development.

Requirements:

• Significant experience in Linux systems engineering, platform integration, or a closely related technical field.
• Strong understanding of the Linux stack, including operating systems, kernel-level components, networking, virtualization, graphics, and system software.
• Experience working with Ubuntu or other Linux distributions in desktop, server, embedded, or IoT environments.
• Understanding of hardware and software integration, particularly with modern silicon and next-generation computing platforms.
• Experience designing or implementing complete system architectures across multiple technology layers.
• Ability to analyze technical requirements and translate them into practical integration, testing, and optimization strategies.
• Experience working with application integration, SDKs, operating system images, or embedded/device software environments.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose complex issues across hardware and software boundaries.
• Ability to work effectively with external partners, customers, and engineering teams in technically complex environments.
• Strong technical communication skills, with the ability to explain complex systems clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Resourceful, adaptable, and comfortable working across a broad range of technologies and use cases.
• Strong ownership and delivery mindset, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfortable working independently within a globally distributed organization.
• Professional fluency in English, both written and spoken.
• Experience with IoT, cloud-to-edge architectures, application performance optimization, or enterprise systems is advantageous.
