This role offers an opportunity to work at the intersection of GIS, remote sensing, imagery interpretation, and geospatial quality assurance.
You’ll analyze high-resolution satellite and aerial imagery to identify physical features and detect changes across different time periods.
Your work will help ensure spatial datasets are accurate, complete, consistent, and reliable for downstream project use.
You’ll combine visual interpretation with digitization, spatial analysis, validation, and structured quality-control processes.
The role involves working with tools such as QGIS and ArcGIS and managing a range of common geospatial data formats.
You’ll collaborate with project teams to document findings, communicate discrepancies, and produce clear maps and analytical outputs.
This is a strong opportunity for an experienced geospatial professional to contribute to data-driven mapping and analysis projects with real-world impact.
Interpret high-resolution satellite and aerial imagery to identify, classify, and assess physical features and changes within the built environment.
Compare imagery captured at different dates to identify spatial changes and document observations accurately and consistently.
Validate interpreted features against reference datasets, identify discrepancies, and record uncertainty where applicable.
Digitize, update, and maintain spatial features and associated attributes using QGIS and/or ArcGIS.
Assess imagery suitability for analysis by considering spatial resolution, acquisition date, cloud cover, shadows, and other image-quality factors.
Perform detailed geospatial QA/QC checks to verify the accuracy, completeness, consistency, and reliability of project deliverables.
Prepare, validate, and manage datasets in formats such as SHP, KML/KMZ, GeoJSON, and GeoTIFF.
Document analytical methods, observations, quality findings, and project outcomes in a clear and structured manner.
Create maps and concise analytical summaries to communicate findings effectively to project stakeholders.
Support project teams in resolving data discrepancies and maintaining consistent geospatial interpretation standards.
4–5 years of professional experience in GIS, remote sensing, satellite imagery interpretation, or a closely related field.
Hands-on experience working with high-resolution satellite and/or aerial imagery.
Strong visual interpretation skills, including the ability to recognize built features, land disturbance, surface characteristics, and changes over time.
Experience with multi-temporal imagery comparison, change detection, feature validation, and reference-data analysis.
Proficiency with QGIS and/or ArcGIS for visualization, digitization, spatial analysis, and geospatial data management.
Strong understanding of imagery quality factors, including resolution, acquisition timing, cloud cover, shadows, and their impact on interpretation confidence.
Practical experience performing geospatial quality assurance and quality control.
Familiarity with SHP, KML/KMZ, GeoJSON, GeoTIFF, and other commonly used GIS data formats.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify subtle inconsistencies or spatial discrepancies.
Good analytical, organizational, documentation, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently while maintaining consistent quality standards and project timelines.
Experience interpreting urban imagery or mapping the built environment is preferred.
Familiarity with commercial high-resolution satellite imagery providers or imagery platforms is an advantage.
