Network Admin

Job Overview:

As a Network/System Administrator, you will be responsible for the management, maintenance, and troubleshooting of our network infrastructure and IT systems. This position involves ensuring the stability, security, and performance of our internal and external networks, servers, and systems. You will also work closely with other IT team members to support ongoing projects and resolve technical issues as they arise.

Key Responsibilities:

• Network Administration:
• Configure, monitor, and maintain local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and wireless networks.
• Ensure network security by implementing firewalls, VPNs, and other security protocols.
• Troubleshoot network-related issues, including connectivity and performance problems.
• Maintain network devices, such as switches, routers, and firewalls, ensuring they are updated with the latest firmware.
• System Administration:
• Install, configure, and maintain Windows/Linux servers, as well as related systems and applications.
• Manage and monitor server performance, applying patches and updates as needed.
• Perform regular system backups, and ensure recovery processes are in place.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, and access control on servers and workstations.
• Perform routine hardware and software troubleshooting to ensure uptime and performance.
• Security:
• Assist with the implementation of IT security policies and best practices.
• Regularly review logs and systems for signs of security breaches or vulnerabilities.
• Manage antivirus software and ensure systems are up to date with the latest security patches.
• Help with disaster recovery planning and testing.
• Support & Troubleshooting:
• Provide help desk support for employees experiencing network or system-related issues.
• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network problems in a timely manner.
• Assist with the deployment and maintenance of desktop hardware and software.
• Documentation & Reporting:
• Document network configurations, system settings, and troubleshooting procedures.
• Provide regular status reports on network/system performance and incidents to senior management.
• Maintain accurate inventories of hardware and software assets.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
• 1-3 years of hands-on experience in network and/or system administration.
• Basic knowledge of networking protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN.
• Experience with server administration (Windows Server, Linux, or a mix).
• Familiarity with common network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls).
• Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, etc.) is a plus.
• Basic understanding of security practices and IT security principles.
• Experience with backup systems and disaster recovery planning.

Desired Skills:

• Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, or Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) are a plus.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, etc.).
• Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.
