We run our platform entirely on our own on-premise servers. There are no cloud-managed services behind the scenes. When something fails, we investigate it, understand it, and fix it ourselves.
We are looking for a hands-on DevOps Engineer who is comfortable working closely with Kubernetes, GitLab, CI/CD pipelines, container platforms, general networking, and Linux systems in a fully self-managed environment.
Comfortable working daily with kubectl, with clear knowledge of Kubernetes internals to effectively trace, diagnose, and resolve production problems.
You should also be comfortable working primarily through the command line, as there are no UI buttons to resolve most issues, this role requires getting hands-on and working directly with the system when needed.
This role suits someone who enjoys debugging real problems, reading documentations, patiently tracing what went wrong, explaining the root cause clearly, and putting in place long-term fixes instead of temporary patches.
More than anything, this role values ownership, curiosity, clear thinking, documentation, and steady improvement over time.
Core Responsibilities:
- Running and caring for on-prem Kubernetes clusters across internal and client environments.
- Keeping self-hosted GitLab, runners, CI/CD pipelines, and container registries reliable and predictable.
- Troubleshooting real production issues across containers, networking, storage, CI/CD, and Linux systems. This requires command line shell experience.
- Performing thoughtful root cause analysis, sharing clear explanations, and implementing fixes that last.
- Supporting multiple client clusters together with the DevOps team and helping maintain their stability.
- Working with Linux administration, internal networking, certificates, access control, and service communication in on-prem setups.
- Noticing repetitive manual work and gradually replacing it with automation or simple tooling.
- Using tools like Ansible, Terraform, or similar when they genuinely make operations easier.
- Maintaining monitoring, logging, and alerting so problems are visible before they grow.
- Writing and updating runbooks, architecture notes, recovery steps, and operational documentation that others can rely on.
- Helping with deployments, releases, and incident response, including occasional on-call support.
- Continuously improving reliability, performance, and operational clarity of the platform.
- Staying curious about useful new practices in Kubernetes, security, and infrastructure, and applying them thoughtfully.
Required Experience
- Around 3+ years of real hands-on work in DevOps or infrastructure.
- Practical comfort with on-prem Kubernetes, including failures and recovery.
- Solid understanding of Linux systems, basic networking, and step-by-step debugging.
- Experience with GitLab CI/CD, Docker, and container lifecycle workflows.
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools.
- Ability to analyze issues calmly and explain root causes clearly.
- Some scripting ability in Bash, Python, or similar.
- Habit of documenting what you build, change, and fix.
- Exposure to ingress, load balancing, or service mesh in Kubernetes.
- Experience with automation tools like Ansible, Terraform, or similar and know how to use them end to end.
Personal Qualities
- Someone who genuinely enjoys debugging and understanding systems deeply.
- Comfortable working where everything is self-managed and visible.
- Able to take ownership quietly and follow problems through to resolution.
- Prefers long-term stability and automation over quick temporary fixes.
- Keeps clear notes and documentation for the team.
- Stays curious and keeps learning, step by step.
- Works well with others, while also being able to handle things independently when needed.
Travel
Occasional travel may be needed for on-prem client deployments, troubleshooting, or coordination.
