Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced MERN Stack Engineer with strong expertise in Node.js backend development and hands-on experience building scalable, secure, and high-performance web applications. The ideal candidate should be proficient in MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, and Node.js, with a solid understanding of application architecture, database design, cloud deployment, and modern development practices.
The candidate must have strong verbal and written communication skills, the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, and the confidence to explain technical concepts, discuss solutions, and contribute to technical decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable web applications using MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, and Node.js.
- Build robust RESTful APIs and backend services using Node.js and frameworks such as Express.js, Koa.js, or similar.
- Develop responsive and user-friendly frontend applications using React.js, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS3.
- Design efficient database schemas and optimize queries across MongoDB and SQL databases.
- Implement secure authentication and authorization mechanisms, including JWT, OAuth, and role-based access control.
- Understand and apply asynchronous programming, event-driven architecture, error handling, and performance optimization techniques.
- Design applications with scalability, maintainability, security, and reliability in mind.
- Integrate third-party APIs, external services, and multiple data sources.
- Deploy and manage applications using AWS services and implement CI/CD pipelines.
- Apply DevOps practices using Docker, Kubernetes, and related deployment tools where applicable.
- Conduct code reviews, write maintainable code, and ensure adherence to engineering standards and best practices.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, QA engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure timely project delivery.
- Mentor junior developers and contribute to knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
- Communicate technical updates, implementation approaches, risks, and dependencies clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- 5–8 years of professional experience in software development, with strong expertise in Node.js and backend engineering.
- Hands-on experience with the MERN stack: MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, and Node.js.
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+) and a good understanding of modern JavaScript features.
- Solid understanding of asynchronous programming, Promises, async/await, event loops, and error handling.
- Experience developing RESTful APIs, backend services, and integrations with third-party systems.
- Good knowledge of MongoDB, database schema design, indexing, query optimization, and familiarity with SQL databases.
- Experience with React.js, component-based architecture, state management, and responsive UI development.
- Understanding of application security, authentication, authorization, and secure coding practices.
- Knowledge of application architecture, design patterns, scalability, and performance optimization.
- Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms for application deployment and hosting.
- Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and Kubernetes.
- Understanding of HTML5, CSS3, and frontend styling approaches such as SASS.
- Knowledge of testing practices, debugging, and code quality tools.
Communication and Collaboration Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to explain technical concepts and architectural decisions clearly.
- Confidence in participating in client discussions, requirement-gathering sessions, and technical meetings.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and collaborative skills.
- Ability to take ownership of deliverables, provide timely updates, and work effectively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with TypeScript and modern frontend development practices.
- Familiarity with automated testing frameworks and test-driven development.
- Experience with microservices, event-driven systems, caching, and message queues.
- Exposure to application monitoring, logging, and production troubleshooting.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
