Mobile Test Automation Engineer

We're on the lookout for a Mobile Test Automation Engineer to join our team working on a social news aggregation platform.

What you’ll do

• Design, maintain, and execute automated and manual tests for iOS and Android mobile applications.

• Build and maintain mobile automation suites using XCUITest and Espresso.

• Perform hands-on functional, regression, integration, exploratory, usability, and end-to-end testing on real devices and emulators.

• Diagnose failures, investigate defects, and partner with engineering teams to identify root causes.

• Develop test plans, test cases, test procedures, and release-quality reports.

• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and monitor test and infrastructure stability.

• Collaborate with developers, product managers, and partner engineering teams throughout the Agile development lifecycle.

• Identify cross-platform impact areas and provide risk-based test coverage for new features and experiments.

• Help drive quality practices across unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.

• Estimate testing effort and work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Required skills & experience

• 4+ years of experience building or maintaining automation frameworks for mobile applications.

• Advanced hands-on experience with XCUITest and Espresso — framework development, maintenance, debugging, and CI execution.

• Strong experience testing iOS and Android mobile applications, preferably social media or high-scale consumer apps.

• Experience building scalable mobile automation frameworks and integrating them into CI/CD pipelines.

• Strong knowledge of mobile QA methodologies, SDLC, test strategy, and test documentation.

• Strong understanding of mobile platforms, device fragmentation, networking, permissions, notifications, deep links, and app lifecycle behavior.

• Ability to independently create test plans and coverage strategies from product requirements.

• Strong exploratory testing and risk-assessment skills.

• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments with frequent or weekly production releases.

• Experience using tools such as Jira, Confluence, and common test-management systems.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience testing social, community, messaging, or user-generated content platforms at scale.

• Experience testing across iOS, Android, web, and mobile web.

• Experience with API testing and backend validation.

• Experience testing experiments, feature flags, personalisation, feeds, notifications, and user-generated content.

• Experience supporting frequent or weekly production release cycles.
