OTA Solution Train Engineer

This position is part of the IMG Enterprise Connectivity team and is responsible for managing and monitoring OTA update processes for vehicle products sold across International Markets Group regions. The role requires strong knowledge of connected vehicle technologies, vehicle architecture, ECU functions, CAN protocols, OTA software release processes, and cross-functional program execution.

The engineer will act as a key lead for OTA Solution Train Engineering activities, ensuring software packages, sequence documents, test plans, validation activities, and sign-off milestones are delivered according to program requirements and global standards.

• Lead OTA Solution Train Engineering activities across IMG vehicle programs.
• Manage OTA sequence documents, configuration creation, OTA end-to-end testing, Jira creation, and issue tracking.
• Monitor program timing updates and prioritize sequence document updates based on Final Sign-Off (FSO) milestones.
• Maintain source and destination part numbers in line with software change management guidelines.
• Review program change content and confirm feature applicability by module, market, and model year.
• Coordinate with module engineers to collect software change management documentation.
• Ensure software part numbers are released in Ford software release systems.
• Support testing teams with part number clarifications and sequence document queries.
• Lead OTA package testing for features, release notes, and system integrity.
• Develop and track testing timing plans for test benches and prototype/test vehicles.
• Manage issue resolution with testing teams, feature owners, stakeholders, and global teams.
• Monitor and summarize FSO metrics and throughput based on global standards.
• Lead daily and weekly STE meetings, including agendas and status reports.
• Schedule and deploy software and configuration updates to prototype and test vehicles.
• Drive governance, process adherence, and cross-functional coordination to deliver business value.
• Work with Ford teams to establish new processes for multi-mode OTA support.
• Provide regular leadership updates on status, accomplishments, risks, goals, and next steps.

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience managing large enterprise programs.
  • Experience managing concurrent programs requiring extensive cross-functional integration.
  • Knowledge of automotive connected vehicle technologies and global vehicle product platforms.
  • Understanding of vehicle architecture, ECU functions, and CAN BUS protocols.
  • Experience using issue tracking tools such as Jira to create, assign, prioritize, and track bugs and epics.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in an agile environment and respond quickly to changing customer and product demands.
  • Flexibility to work across time zones with IMG markets, Dearborn, and Europe.

Preferred Experiences & Criteria

• Experience with connectivity testing and end-to-end validation.
• Ability to analyze CAN logs.
• Broad understanding of embedded systems, vehicle architecture connectivity, cloud connectivity, backend enterprise systems, and mobile application integration.
• Experience with automotive vehicle hardware systems and launch management.
• Ability to analyze launch issues and coordinate issue resolution across cross-functional teams.
• Experience performing product reflection, lessons learned, and process standardization for new market connectivity launches.
• Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals and quality/reliability methods such as FMEAs and DVP&Rs.
• Ability to develop quality work plans and deliverables from minimal direction.
• Capability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
• Creative problem-solving skills with the ability to recommend and implement actions.
