ROLE OVERVIEW
The Senior Technical Consultant — Marketing Cloud Next is a hands-on delivery specialist responsible for
executing the build, configuration, data migration and testing workstreams within Marketing Cloud Next
migration waves. Working under the direction of the Technical Architect and Solution Architect, the STC owns
specific delivery workstreams end-to-end — including Email Studio configuration, Journey Builder
implementation, subscriber data migration, AMPscript and SSJS development, Data Cloud data stream
configuration and automated migration validation tooling. The STC also mentors Technical Consultants on the
wave team, reviewing their work and ensuring factory quality standards are upheld across all MCN
deliverables.

RESPONSIBILITIES
● Execute Marketing Cloud Next platform configuration — building Email Studio sending domains, IP
configurations, Content Builder templates, Automation Studio programs, Journey Builder flows and
subscriber data extension schemas as specified in the Technical Architect's solution design.
● Execute subscriber data migration — running the full data migration lifecycle: data profiling,
transformation scripting, data extension population, suppression list loading, consent record migration
and bulk data load execution using ETL tools and Salesforce Bulk API.
● Develop AMPscript and SSJS personalisation — writing dynamic content personalisation scripts for
migrated email templates, recreating legacy segmentation logic, lookup functions and conditional content
rules in MCN native scripting.
● Configure Salesforce Data Cloud data streams — setting up data stream ingestion from source
systems, configuring DLO schemas, mapping fields to DMOs and validating data completeness per the
Data Cloud Architect's design.
● Migrate and rebuild Journey Builder flows — translating legacy marketing automation workflows,
drip campaigns and triggered sends into Journey Builder — recreating entry sources, decision splits, wait
steps, send activities and exit criteria.
● Build migration validation and reconciliation tooling — developing Apex batch utilities, LWC
dashboards and Salesforce Flow automations for subscriber count reconciliation, data extension record
validation and consent flag verification.
● Execute and manage dry run cycles — coordinating migration dry runs against SIT/UAT environments,
capturing reconciliation counts, logging validation failures and iterating until dry run success criteria are
met.
● Configure sender authentication and deliverability — implementing SPF, DKIM and DMARC DNS
records, private domain configuration, reply mail management and IP warm-up scheduling as directed by
the TA.

● Develop and execute unit and system integration tests — writing test scripts for migrated journeys,
data extensions and automations; executing SIT cycles; logging defects; retesting fixes against factory
quality thresholds.
● Support go-live cutover execution — following the cutover runbook: executing final subscriber data
loads, activating journeys, validating data extension record counts and confirming suppression lists are
active.
● Prepare technical handover documentation — producing configuration workbooks, data mapping
sheets, AMPscript library documentation and journey flow diagrams for client team handover post go-
live.
● Mentor Technical Consultants — reviewing TC deliverables for quality, explaining MCN platform
patterns, unblocking technical issues and providing feedback aligned to factory standards.
● Contribute to the factory accelerator library — after every wave, updating reusable MCN
configuration templates, AMPscript snippet libraries, data migration scripts and validation toolkits in the
shared accelerator repository.

CORE TECHNICAL SKILLS — MUST HAVE
● Marketing Cloud Next — Hands-On Configuration: Proven ability to configure Email Studio, Journey
Builder, Automation Studio, Content Builder and Contact Builder end-to-end, including sending domain
configuration, journey entry sources, decision splits and triggered sends.
● AMPscript & SSJS Development: Proficiency in AMPscript and SSJS for dynamic email personalisation
— lookup functions, conditional content, row sets, attribute rendering and legacy personalisation logic
recreation.
● Subscriber Data Migration Execution: Hands-on experience executing subscriber data migrations —
data extension population, bulk data loading via Import Wizard and API, suppression list management,
consent record migration and reconciliation validation at scale.
● Salesforce Data Cloud — Configuration: Working knowledge of Data Cloud data stream setup,
DLO/DMO schema configuration, field mapping and data ingestion validation.
● ETL Tools & Data Loading: Experience using at least one ETL tool (Informatica Cloud, Talend, Azure
Data Factory, MuleSoft) or scripted Bulk API / REST API approaches for subscriber data extraction,
transformation and loading.
● Apex & Platform Development: Ability to write Batch Apex, Schedulable classes, REST callout handlers
and Apex test classes for migration utility development, including subscriber reconciliation tools and
consent flag verification.
● Lightning Web Components & Salesforce Flow: Ability to build LWC migration dashboards, subscriber
count trackers and Salesforce Flow automations as internal factory tooling.
● CI/CD & Source Control: Comfortable working within Salesforce DX and Git-based workflows —
committing changes, following branching conventions, submitting PRs and using Gearset/Copado for
environment promotion.

PREFERRED SKILLS — GOOD TO HAVE
● Experience migrating from Eloqua, Marketo, HubSpot, Pardot or legacy SFMC Classic to Marketing Cloud

● Knowledge of Marketing Cloud Intelligence (Datorama) for cross-channel reporting post-migration
● Experience with WhatsApp, Push, SMS or LINE channel configuration in Marketing Cloud Next

● Familiarity with Marketing Cloud REST and SOAP API for programmatic data operations and triggered
sends
● Understanding of IP warm-up strategy and email deliverability monitoring tools (250ok, Validity/Return
Path)
● Exposure to Agentforce journeys triggered from Data Cloud activation segments

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
● 5–8 years of Salesforce and marketing technology delivery experience
● 3+ years of hands-on Salesforce Marketing Cloud / Marketing Cloud Next configuration experience
● Experience executing at least 1 end-to-end Marketing Cloud migration or large implementation project as
a key delivery contributor
● Demonstrated hands-on experience with subscriber data migration — bulk loading, data extension setup,
consent migration and reconciliation validation
● Experience mentoring junior Technical Consultants on MCN configuration and data migration tasks
