Job Summary

 Job Description - Cloud Migration – Azure Local & Storage SME (L3) Technology: Azure Local (Azure Stack HCI), Storage Spaces Direct (S2D), Azure Storage / Backup, GCP Storage, Commvault, SAN/NAS, PowerShell / Bicep / Terraform.

Key Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities: • Azure Local & Storage Architecture: Architect, design, and optimize Storage Spaces Direct (S2D) and hyperconverged storage infrastructure on Azure Local (Azure Stack HCI) clusters, managing multi-terabyte hybrid footprints (1,641 TB Azure storage, 380 TB GCP Object Storage, datacenter SAN/NAS). • Storage Migration Strategy: Lead end-to-end migration execution for legacy enterprise block, file, and object storage workloads to Azure Local, Azure Blob, and GCP Cloud Storage with minimal business downtime. • Backup & Disaster Recovery Architecture: Design and oversee enterprise backup, retention, and disaster recovery architectures using Commvault, Azure Backup, GCP Backup, and snapshot replication strategies across hybrid environments. • Performance Tuning & Capacity Planning: Perform deep-dive performance optimization for S2D storage pools, caching tiers, deduplication databases (DDB), and storage network interfaces (RDMA, RoCE, iWARP). • AIOps & Governance Integration: Integrate storage monitoring and alert streams into Azure Monitor, Datadog, Splunk, and AIOps frameworks for automated incident, change, and capacity management (INC/SR/CHG). • L3 Escalation & Root Cause Analysis: Serve as the final technical escalation point for critical (Sev-1) storage crashes, volume corruption, and cluster performance bottlenecks; conduct deep-dive RCA. • Automation & Documentation: Drive Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) deployment for storage provisioning using PowerShell, Bicep, ARM, or Terraform; author runbooks, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Post-Implementation Review (PIR) reports. 1.2 Must have Skills: Technical: • Azure Local / S2D Expertise: 3+ years of direct hands-on experience designing and operating Storage Spaces Direct (S2D) within Azure Stack HCI / Azure Local clusters. • Hybrid Storage Mastery: Advanced technical knowledge of enterprise block, file, and object storage across cloud (Azure Blob/Files, GCP Object Storage) and physical datacenters (SAN/NAS). • Enterprise Backup & Recovery: Deep expertise in enterprise backup tools (Commvault), native cloud backup (Azure/GCP Backup), and disaster recovery architectures. • Windows & Clustering Fundamentals: Deep understanding of Failover Clustering, Hyper-V storage virtualization, storage networks (RDMA, RoCE, iWARP), and SET switches. • Scripting & IaC: High proficiency in PowerShell and Azure CLI; hands-on experience with IaC tools (Terraform, Bicep, ARM). Non-Technical • Proven technical leadership and stakeholder management capabilities during complex migration cutover windows. • Strong adherence to documentation standards (PIRs, technical runbooks) and ITIL framework practices.

Technical: • Azure Local / S2D Expertise: 3+ years of direct hands-on experience designing and operating Storage Spaces Direct (S2D) within Azure Stack HCI / Azure Local clusters. • Hybrid Storage Mastery: Advanced technical knowledge of enterprise block, file, and object storage across cloud (Azure Blob/Files, GCP Object Storage) and physical datacenters (SAN/NAS). • Enterprise Backup & Recovery: Deep expertise in enterprise backup tools (Commvault), native cloud backup (Azure/GCP Backup), and disaster recovery architectures. • Windows & Clustering Fundamentals: Deep understanding of Failover Clustering, Hyper-V storage virtualization, storage networks (RDMA, RoCE, iWARP), and SET switches. • Scripting & IaC: High proficiency in PowerShell and Azure CLI; hands-on experience with IaC tools (Terraform, Bicep, ARM). Non-Technical • Proven technical leadership and stakeholder management capabilities during complex migration cutover windows. • Strong adherence to documentation standards (PIRs, technical runbooks) and ITIL framework practices. 1.3 Good to Have Skills: • Exposure to IBM iSeries storage and BRMS backup integrations. • Experience with FinOps methodologies for storage tier optimization and cost management across hybrid cloud environments. • Knowledge of CI/CD pipeline integration (GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps) for automated storage provisioning. 1.4 Soft Skills: • Exceptional analytical and troubleshooting skills under high-pressure, major-outage conditions. • Excellent written and verbal technical communication skills to bridge infrastructure engineering and business teams. • Strategic mindset focused on continuous operational efficiency, resilience, and automation.

Other Requirements

AZ-800 / AZ-801 or AZ-104 (Required), Commvault Certified Engineer / Professional or NetApp/Dell EMC certifications (Highly Preferred), AZ-305 / GCP Professional Cloud Architect (Good to have)
