Job Summary
The VMware Aria Operations Engineer is responsible for monitoring, managing, and optimizing VMware virtual infrastructure through VMware Aria Operations. The role focuses on dashboard development, capacity forecasting, performance analysis, proactive issue identification, infrastructure health monitoring, and remediation of performance and availability issues across VMware environments consisting of vCenter Servers, ESXi clusters, vSphere infrastructure, and Virtual Machines (VMs). The engineer will work closely with infrastructure, cloud, virtualization, and operations teams to ensure platform stability, performance, and efficient resource utilization. The engineer will work closely with infrastructure, cloud, virtualization, and operations teams to ensure platform stability, performance, and efficient resource utilization.\\\\r\\\\nPrimary Skills\\\\r\\\\n• VMware Aria Operations (vROps)\\\\r\\\\n• VMware vCenter Server, vSphere and ESXi\\\\r\\\\n• Virtual Machine Administration\\\\r\\\\n• Capacity and Performance Management\\\\r\\\\n• Infrastructure Monitoring and Reporting\\\\r\\\\n• Root Cause Analysis (RCA)\\\\r\\\\n• ITIL Service Management\\\\r\\\\nKey Responsibilities\\\\r\\\\nVMware Aria Operations Administration\\\\r\\\\n• Configure, manage, and maintain VMware Aria Operations environments.\\\\r\\\\n• Create and customize dashboards, scoreboards, reports, views, and alerts based on operational requirements.\\\\r\\\\n• Develop executive, management, and operational dashboards for infrastructure health monitoring.\\\\r\\\\n• Configure monitoring policies, symptoms, alerts, and notifications.\\\\r\\\\nMonitoring and Performance Management\\\\r\\\\n• Monitor the health, performance, and availability of VMware vCenter Servers, ESXi Hosts, vSphere Clusters, Virtual Machines, datastores, and storage resources.\\\\r\\\\n• Analyze performance bottlenecks related to CPU, memory, disk, and network utilization.\\\\r\\\\n• Identify abnormal trends and proactively recommend corrective actions.\\\\r\\\\nCapacity Forecasting and Planning\\\\r\\\\n• Perform capacity analysis and forecasting for compute, storage, and memory resources.\\\\r\\\\n• Provide utilization reports and growth projections.\\\\r\\\\n• Recommend infrastructure expansion and optimization plans.\\\\r\\\\n• Assist stakeholders in resource planning and infrastructure budgeting activities.\\\\r\\\\nIncident Management and Troubleshooting\\\\r\\\\n• Investigate VMware infrastructure alerts generated in VMware Aria Operations.\\\\r\\\\n• Perform root cause analysis for recurring infrastructure issues.\\\\r\\\\n• Troubleshoot performance degradation, resource contention, VM instability, and cluster-related incidents.\\\\r\\\\n• Work with infrastructure teams for issue remediation and long-term problem resolution.\\\\r\\\\nInfrastructure Optimization\\\\r\\\\n• Identify oversized and undersized Virtual Machines.\\\\r\\\\n• Recommend rightsizing opportunities for CPU, memory, and storage.\\\\r\\\\n• Improve infrastructure utilization and efficiency.\\\\r\\\\n
Key Responsibilities

Monitoring and Performance Management • Monitor the health, performance, and availability of VMware vCenter Servers, ESXi Hosts, vSphere Clusters, Virtual Machines, datastores, and storage resources. • Analyze performance bottlenecks related to CPU, memory, disk, and network utilization. • Identify abnormal trends and proactively recommend corrective actions. Capacity Forecasting and Planning • Perform capacity analysis and forecasting for compute, storage, and memory resources. • Provide utilization reports and growth projections. • Recommend infrastructure expansion and optimization plans. • Assist stakeholders in resource planning and infrastructure budgeting activities. Incident Management and Troubleshooting • Investigate VMware infrastructure alerts generated in VMware Aria Operations. • Perform root cause analysis for recurring infrastructure issues. • Troubleshoot performance degradation, resource contention, VM instability, and cluster-related incidents. • Work with infrastructure teams for issue remediation and long-term problem resolution. Infrastructure Optimization • Identify oversized and undersized Virtual Machines. • Recommend rightsizing opportunities for CPU, memory, and storage. • Improve infrastructure utilization and efficiency. • Assist in DRS, HA, and cluster performance optimization initiatives. Reporting and Governance • Generate regular operational, capacity, and performance reports. • Present findings and recommendations to customers, management, and technical teams. • Track SLA, availability, utilization, and infrastructure trends. • Maintain documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures. Automation and Integration • Support integration of VMware Aria Operations with vCenter, ServiceNow, monitoring platforms, and reporting tools. • Participate in automation initiatives using PowerCLI, PowerShell, APIs, or VMware Aria capabilities.
