Senior Platform Support Engineer

Your day to day

Even if you’ll start your day from the comfort of your home or drink your morning coffee in our office’s garden, your day will be quite similar when comes to tasks. The following will be the main responsibilities of the role:

Ø Continuous deployment and delivery using Azure DevOps

Ø Implement the security policy so that the system is secure at operating system, database and application server level (this includes also regular patching of the entire environment suite Dev, Test, Acceptance, Production)

Ø Configure and implement appropriate Monitoring Tooling using the correct and agreed event alerts

Ø Perform High Availability and Disaster Recovery tests with support from other IT teams

Ø IT Risk & security controls need to be put in place and accurately documented, for this you will need to get familiar and keep up to date with the Information Security Management Policy

Ø Specify, design, test and deploy the runtime scripts (e.g. stop / start / purge / backup / deploy / rollback)

Ø Implement and work with the latest tooling with a strong focus on performance, stability and security

Ø Perform Functional testing and Change Management activities in order to ensure the safe deliveries from Test, to Acceptance and to Production environment

Ø Find opportunities to automate the testing of existing features, performance and security as well as the automation of deployments, monitoring, and more. This is a key responsibility of the Operations Engineers

Ø Perform incident and problem management activities, including root cause analysis to determine the actual failure cause and implement structural fixes. You communicate directly with users (Traders, Credit/Market Risk Managers) on this from Amsterdam, London, Brussels, New York and Singapore

Ø Tech stack/ knowledge:

o Mandatory:

§ Advanced knowledge on Windows, Linux OS administration, Server Administration

§ Advanced PowerShell, shell/bash and Python scripting.

§ Advanced knowledge on CI/CD, and experience with Azure DevOps, Git, Maven, Checkmarx, Jenkins, Ansible

§ Advanced knowledge on MS SQL Server and Transact-SQL

§ Linux (RedHat Enterprise Linux (7 or 8)) is a plus

§ Thorough understanding of networks, firewalls and scripting languages (e.g. PowerShell, bash, Python)

§ Knowledge & hands-on of monitoring tools (such as Prometheus, Elasticsearch, Kibana, Logstash, Zabbix)

§ Hands-on experience in server/OS pathcing, DB Upgrades and patching

§ A customer focus, with the mindset to find and resolve root causes of incidents to structurally improve the customer experience.

§ IT Operations/Support experience, including Functional support to end users (such as Traders, Risk Managers, Collateral Managers but could be in another domain/field) combined with analytical skills to identify root causes in workflows incidents (data, technical, functional).

§ Familiarity with tools like ServiceNow, Confluence, Fortify

§ Experience or affinity with IT Risk (SOx, vulnerability management) and Security concepts (prot4ocols, certificates, etc.), access control.

§ Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerization tools like Kubernetes, Docker, or Helm.

§ Proficiency in scripting and infrastructure-as-code languages such as Python, Bash, PowerShell, YAML, or Terraform.

§ Prior experience in a customer-facing technical support, site reliability engineering (SRE), or application support role.

§ Hands-on experience in Disaster Recovery exercises and organizing DR at Tribe/Org level.

§ Knowledge of networking fundamentals, API’s and distributed Systems.
