Mid-Level Techno-Functional Analyst – QA (Telecom Domain)

Role Purpose
A hands-on quality ownership role responsible for ensuring the reliability, accuracy, and stability of a cloud-based SaaS billing and subscription management platform serving enterprise telecom clients. This person owns test strategy and execution for assigned modules — particularly around billing accuracy, subscription lifecycle, invoicing, and payments — and works independently with minimal oversight, while mentoring junior QA and coordinating closely with Development and client-facing teams during UAT.

This role suits an experienced QA professional comfortable designing test strategy for complex financial/transactional logic in a B2B SaaS environment, not just executing predefined test cases, and who actively uses AI tools to work faster and smarter.

Key Responsibilities

• Own test planning and test case design for assigned features/modules, with particular rigor around billing calculations, recurring invoice generation, payment processing, and taxation logic.
• Design and execute Sanity, functional, regression, integration, and data-validation test suites across the platform.
• Independently analyze functional specifications and requirements to identify edge cases, ambiguities, and risk areas before development begins.
• Lead UAT coordination — preparing test scenarios and data, working directly with client business teams, and driving defect triage through to closure.
• Perform data validation on high-volume transactional/billing data to catch discrepancies (ledger, ageing, SOA, billing reports).
• Write and maintain automated test scripts for regression coverage where applicable.
• Leverage AI tools to accelerate test case generation, test data creation, script authoring, and defect analysis, and to identify coverage gaps.
• Log, prioritize, and track defects, working closely with Developers to reproduce and verify fixes.
• Contribute to and refine QA processes, test documentation, and reusable test artifacts (test plans, checklists, regression suites).
• Mentor junior QA engineers on test design, domain-specific validation techniques, and effective use of AI-assisted testing tools.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, estimation, retrospectives) and provide realistic testing estimates.

Must-Have Skills & Experience

• 4–7 years of professional QA/testing experience, with meaningful exposure to enterprise SaaS, billing, subscription management, or other transactional/financial systems.
• Strong experience designing test strategies and test cases independently from functional specs, not just executing scripted cases.
• Solid experience with functional, regression, integration, and UAT testing cycles.
• Practical experience with data validation on relational databases — comfortable writing SQL queries to verify data accuracy.
• Hands-on experience using AI tools in the QA workflow (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT/Claude, or similar) for test case generation, script writing, or exploratory test ideation.
• Experience with defect management/tracking tools (e.g., ADO or similar) and structured defect lifecycle management.
• Working knowledge of billing-domain concepts sufficient to design meaningful test scenarios: subscription lifecycle, recurring billing, invoicing, payments, basic taxation — this can be deepened on the job with support from Domain Analysts.
• Experience testing REST APIs (manually and/or via tools like Postman).
• Clear communication skills — able to work directly with Development, Product, and client teams without heavy hand-holding.

Nice-to-Have

• Experience with AI-powered testing/automation tools (e.g., Testim, Mabl, Applitools, or similar self-healing/visual-AI test platforms).
• Prior experience in telecom, IT services, or marketplace platforms.
• Exposure to payment gateway testing or financial reconciliation validation.
• Experience with API automation tools (Postman/Newman, RestAssured).
• Familiarity with performance/load testing concepts for high-volume billing systems.
• Familiarity with Microsoft CSP / Microsoft NCE or cloud marketplace billing concepts.
