Your work profile

• We are looking for an AS400 Specialist L1 to administer, monitor, and maintain IBM AS400 (IBM i) systems and associated infrastructure, including hardware management, virtualization, storage, backup, and disaster recovery.

• Manage IBM i system administration activities, including user profiles, access controls, job monitoring, subsystem management, performance tuning, PTFs, OS upgrades, backups, restores, and production support.

• Administer IBM Power Systems through the Hardware Management Console (HMC), including LPAR configuration, CPU and memory allocation, firmware updates, system activation, and planned or unplanned IPLs.

• Install, configure, and maintain Virtual I/O Server (VIOS), manage virtual network and storage connectivity, configure NPIV and SEA, and support Live Partition Mobility (LPM).

• Implement and maintain disaster recovery (DR) strategies, monitor replication, conduct DR drills, coordinate failover and failback activities, and ensure recovery time and recovery point objectives (RTO/RPO) are met.

• Administer Dell EMC Data Domain backup appliances, monitor backup jobs, manage capacity and replication, troubleshoot backup failures, coordinate restores, and maintain backup retention and compliance.

• Manage SAN/NAS storage infrastructure, including storage provisioning, LUN creation and mapping, zoning, capacity monitoring, performance optimization, storage migrations, and upgrades.

• Troubleshoot system, hardware, application, batch job, backup, and connectivity issues while ensuring system availability, security, performance, and compliance.

• Provide production and on-call support, manage incidents and changes, participate in Change Advisory Board (CAB) activities, and coordinate with vendors and cross-functional teams.

• Maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), system configurations, and architecture records, while supporting audits, knowledge transfer, and mentoring.

Key skills required:

• Strong hands-on knowledge of IBM AS400 / IBM i administration, including user management, job monitoring, subsystem management, system performance, PTFs, backups, restores, and production support.

• Experience with IBM Power Systems and Hardware Management Console (HMC), including LPAR management, resource allocation, firmware updates, and IPL activities.

• Knowledge of VIOS administration, virtual I/O configuration, NPIV, SEA, virtual adapters, and Live Partition Mobility (LPM).

• Experience in disaster recovery and business continuity, replication management, DR drills, failover/failback, and RTO/RPO compliance.

• Hands-on experience with Dell EMC Data Domain backup appliances, backup monitoring, replication, capacity management, and restore operations.

• Knowledge of SAN/NAS storage management, including provisioning, LUN mapping, zoning, storage migrations, performance monitoring, and capacity planning.

• Strong troubleshooting, incident management, change management, vendor coordination, documentation, and communication skills

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
