Your Work Profile

The Data Modeler is responsible for designing, maintaining, and governing enterprise-wide data models that support business operations, analytics, regulatory reporting, and digital transformation initiatives. This role works closely with business stakeholders, architects, data engineers, and governance teams to ensure data structures are scalable, consistent, and aligned with organizational standards and business objectives.

Key Skills & Competencies

1. Design and maintain Conceptual, Logical, and Physical Data Models for enterprise data platforms.
2. Analyse business requirements and translate them into robust, scalable, and future-ready data models.
3. Design enterprise-wide data models across Banking and Financial Services domains such as Customer, Accounts, Deposits, Loans, Payments, Cards, Risk, Compliance, and Regulatory Reporting.
4. Define entities, attributes, relationships, keys, constraints, and business rules.
5. Develop dimensional, normalized, and denormalized data models for operational and analytical workloads.
6. Collaborate with Business Analysts, Data Architects, Solution Architects, Data Engineers, and Governance teams to achieve a unified data architecture.
7. Create and maintain data dictionaries, metadata repositories, business glossaries, and lineage documentation.
8. Ensure compliance with enterprise data standards, naming conventions, reference architectures, and governance frameworks.
9. Support design of Data Warehouses, Data Lakes, Data Marts, and Modern Data Platforms on cloud environments.
10. Review source-to-target mappings and validate data structures against business and regulatory requirements.
11. Identify data quality issues, redundancies, inconsistencies, and recommend remediation approaches.
12. Participate in data migration, modernization, integration, and transformation initiatives.
13. Optimize data models for scalability, performance, security, and maintainability.
14. Support Master Data Management (MDM), Reference Data Management, and Data Governance initiatives.
15. Work closely with development teams to ensure accurate implementation of approved data models.
16. Strong understanding of relational, dimensional, and NoSQL data modelling concepts.
17. Experience with data modeling tools such as ERwin, ER/Studio, PowerDesigner, SAP PowerDesigner, or similar tools.
18. Hands-on experience with SQL and database technologies such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, Redshift, or Databricks.
19. Knowledge of data governance frameworks, metadata management, and data lineage concepts.
20. Mentor junior data modelers and contribute to enterprise data modelling standards, best practices, and reusable design patterns.

Preferred Qualifications

• Education: B. Tech / BE / MCA / M. Tech or equivalent.
• 10+ years of experience in Data Modelling.
• BFSI (Banking, Financial Services & Insurance) domain experience preferred.
• Professional certifications in Data Management, Data Architecture, or Cloud Platforms are an added advantage.

1. 10+ years of hands-on experience in Enterprise Data Modeling and Data Architecture.
2. Strong expertise in creating Conceptual, Logical, and Physical Data Models.
3. Proven experience in Banking & Financial Services data domains such as Customer, Accounts, Loans, Deposits, Payments, Cards, Risk, and Regulatory Reporting.
4. Ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable and governed data structures.
5. Strong understanding of Data Warehousing, Data Lakes, Metadata Management, and Data Governance principles.
6. Managing Quality & Risk - Delivering high-quality results and mitigating risks with utmost integrity and precision.
7. Tech Savvy - Leveraging modern data platforms and best practices to deliver high impact for clients and Deloitte.

Location and Way of Working

• Base location: Bangalore, Pune and Chennai, this profile involves occasional travel to client locations.
• Hybrid is our default way of working. Each domain has customized the hybrid approach to their unique needs.
